Working class is a better term--and by working class we should mean those who contribute economic value.”

“the deal israel wanted was for palestinians to forever forsake returning to israel...

why insist on this? why not suggest it is something that could be discussed at a later date....

b/c it was a way to sabotage the deal...”

mommamia526 replied on Nov 30, 2009 at 06:42:08

“So, let me see now, Vinny. Arabs of a specific determination have rights to Syria, from whence they originate, Lebanon, from whence they originate, Jordan from whence they originate, Gaza (Egypt), from whence they originate, the PA territories, their very own separate nation AND Israel too? My question is with all that territory, and their very own separate state, and an 25% presence in Israel already, why do they need a right of return? I am an immigrant in the U.S. children (not all of them) and grandchildren were born and raised in the U.S. Does that offspring born and raised in the U.S., with U.S. citizenship, have a right to return to my country of origin? Or the country of origin of my father (a different one). The real issue, Vinny, is why do Arabs not grant fellow Arabs, born in their respective countries, a.o. Lebanon, Syria and Jordan, citizenship? Why do Arab nations not reach out towards those poor refugees and give than a handup and a handout, as Europe, the U.S. and Israel do?”

Palestine After Abbas

Commented Nov 27, 2009 at 14:18:14 in World

“why would anyone sign something that would give up their perceived rights?

if clinton and israel were serious about peace, they would have compromised on the right of return...

but they didn't, leaving arafat no option...”

help4mac replied on Nov 27, 2009 at 16:15:24

“The "so-called" right of return is a non-starter for obvious reasons. Israel is not proposing to control Palestinian ex-pats returning to a Palestinian state. And ISrael is not asking for compensation for the hundreds of thousands whose property was confiscated from Arab states and Iran.”

TheLonelyGod replied on Nov 27, 2009 at 14:47:49

“"why would anyone sign something that would give up their perceived rights?"

Because having peace means compromising. If the Palestinians were serious about peace THEY would have compromised on their perceived "right" of return.

But they didn't, and now they have nothing. See how that works?”
