“If there was no money in this war they would not be there. Rest assured, Obama knows why he is doing what he is doing. We are collateral damage, or our soldiers, they are fighting for the rich.
I don't see any reason why we are in Afghanistan and some explanation that we are fighting evil
is just not acceptable. We are the evil ones!”

“You are so wrong. You need to see how Obama pressured NATO into submitting new troops and against their people's wishes like Germany, who will send 4,000 more troops. England is up in arms over it and want to pull out immediately.
I wonder how we will find the dollars since we are in debt with no way forward yet we can afford 2 wars? 3.2 billion a month for this Afghan War and without the surge it would come to over 100 billion. Money better spent at home. We are a dying nation!”

“According to a survey, most are apparently not upset over the out of control spending, they are for the escalation of war in Afghanistan and a survey here claimed that 91% are for military intervention in Iran. Tell me again that people care how their money is being spent when they are for wars. We are broke, dead broke, and where are we supposed to get the money for the wars from is my question. I think they talk out of both sides of their mouths!”

Second, it shows the quality of judgment of an individual to make such important decisions without enough information. And last, if this was any Democrat the howls of rage from the right would make this a 24/7 news story.”

“Actually, consumers in countries with neo-mercantilist, protectionist trade policies and industrial policies don't get asked. If they did, things might be different. It is the job of government to institute policies that lead to national prosperity. I know that there a lot of free traders and anarchists who oppose this idea. Try thinking of it in simple terms, like football. The team that has a good coach and practices plays will do better than the team that says players should all just do their own thing. The latter idea approximates failed right wing policies. Very simple, wither the U.S. learns to again play as a team or we lose.”

“Thank you. I hope more people are as clear minded as you are.

The countries who focus on infrastructures, manufactoring, education, and public health and safety nets, enviornmental control are the ones who will progress in the new century. It is not about simply currency manipulation (all countries have some form of governmental hands in it) but overall competitivness that do the trick.

I hope people realize the fundamentals of the situation, and stop blaming the simple and obvious ones so they can feel good about themselves ... "if they don't do this or that, we will be ok." No! As long as the behaviors in USA remain the same, there won't be any silver bullet or one shot solution, and certainly not in the form of simple currency correction or manipulation.”

“It is frusterating to think that there are many American's out there who think that our current course is both Iraq and Afghanistan is both sustainable and morally acceptable while the domestic problems in our own nation are mounting by the day with very little being done about.

Now there are rumblings about Iran?

How much money have we p*ssed away into the sand in Iraq and Afghanistan, not to mention the lives lost and shared misery on all sides of the conflict, and yet there are people on this board that are angry because some of their fellow citizens are getting food assisstance?

Obama is going to send another 30,000+ troops to Afghanistan and there is now talk of imposing a 'War Tax' on every American to fund the ongoing conflict and yet conservatives rally against social programs for our own citizens.

How about calling our losses and bring our troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan?
How about funding a war on poverty, hunger, and healthcare in our own nation?
How about a little nation building right here at home?
How about”

GrizzlyBowman replied on Nov 30, 2009 at 08:42:54

“It only means 91 percent of those surveyed answered a question or questions interpreted to mean that military involvement is required to stay Iran's nuke quest. Involvement or intervention does not necessarily mean deployment of close to 150,000 troops and trillions of dollars we don't have.

Many people are misled to think that we have bottomless coffers, an entry and exit strategy, and a righteous cause. Unfortunately, brutalizing two nations' peoples, selling WMDs to a country to promote war with that country for having WMDs, and sacrificing thousands of American lives to retaliate against 19 dead misanthropes infinitely does not meet any of those tenets.”

“This is what one gets when you don't pay living wages. Come on now, why do we have min. wage in this great country of ours, supposed to be a model for the rest of the world. We have absolutely the worst of anything, healthcare, wages, benefits, social security, which has been cut in half some time ago. We got rid of most fulltime jobs already, and parttimers were replaced with intermittent, which used to be the "on-call" category! How can one live off 3 to 19 hours per week?
And the employer still can demand that their company is considered first and may not be flexible in adjusting the hours so the person can have a second job somewhere else. Yep, something really to be proud of - pledge the allegiance!”
