Doesn't it bother you that the some members of the FBI are notorious for fingering innocent people in order to receive promotions?”

“Are you serious? These are Chechen extremists pure and simple.
There is overwhelming evidence against both of them!!!
The younger brother will be sentenced to death for his heinous crimes.
You are delusional to bring up such a pycho-babble conclusion of the events that
have taken place . . .”
“How easily convinced with false information Americans become.
Point one - Th boys did not act in accordance with people carrying out crime -On the video of the boys they were carrying huge backpacks, one boy had his cap on backwards - both easily recognizable, etc, etc. easy to pick out if you read past the headlines.
Point two - For 12 years the new Homeland Security was supposed to keep the US all cozy and safe - but 2 backpacks unattended on Marathon run day in BOSTON. The authorities responsible for local Bostonian, Massachusetts and national security are fully responsible for the failure to appropriately keep the people in Boston safe.
Final point - Why were the boys not arrested and put to trial to be proved guilty or not in a court of law? What proof is there that the boys did the crime that so many people know they are guilty? What is your proof? Fingerprints? Motive? Access to explosives? You saw them do it with your own eyes? Have you turned your evidence over to the appropriate authorities because if not you are complicit in whether justice (or injustice) is taking place. In most countries a justice system exists to try criminals. But in the US just point a finger and someone will kill the accused - no proof necessary but rumors will assure lots of murders without any worry about justice.
and a thought. Of course it could happen to you . . . you”

First off you're a liar, that's not how our Justice system works!!
The last part of this quote I took from your comment could be constued as a threat from you to further the violence against America.
So I ask you again, which family member are you? The Father, Mother, Sisters, Uncles or maybe the one that turned them to extremism?”

“Just cos they were silly enough to show their faces it doesn't mean they were innocently going about their day. As far as I know the younger brother has admitted to the crime but I'm not sure. The backpacks that they are carrying are clearly visible on the film as are the ones that were left on the road. They had plenty of explosive material when they were running from the police. I think you'll find it's not just Americans who are convinced I am one convinced Brit.”

This way she is in the news, and now probably hopes to sue the U.S. Maybe she has 2 more sons she can send to Russia with bombs for warning the U.S. about her and her sons in the first place. See what I did there?.......”

“Sharia Law would have taken care of them VERY quickly.”
“Drones started out to be as big as mosquito when they were first tested by Israel on Palestinians. (I'm so old I don't even remember how many decades back that was)
Now the design of drones is out of control. The American view that drones are small and easy to knock out of the sky 'with a tennis racket' is not accurate. The drones have become bigger and more highly equipped. I've visited only one plant where drones are manufactured but they are not for play. The designers and builders are very serious; drones are not equivalent to child's play. Anyway . .
Isn't the main issue an ethical one - Is murder a legitimate strategy to keep the US economy alive?”
Jonas Planck on Mar 15, 2013 at 17:10:58
“I had to remove the modifier, "a tennis racket with a very, very long telescoping handle," due to space constraints. I feel it's an important mental exercise to break down the excuses given to us, no matter how reasonable they may sound on the surface. These excuses are generally full of logical fallacies, and several years later, when we invariably discover that they were all lies, nobody ever apologizes for those lies or even acknowledges that any lies were told. Instead, they move on to the NEXT lie, justifying the NEXT stage in the process of human suppression. The Tea Party got ONE thing right, at least, they know better than to trust the government. It would have been nice if they had the critical thinking skills to move past that premise and attempt to seek the truth, but no, instead they (along with Occupy) became another excuse to dismiss legitimate concerns about militarization and oppression as nothing more than "paranoid delusions."
As for the legitimacy of murder as a political tool... the bipartisan consensus appears to be "yes." ...the only disagreement is over which party should be permitted to decide who dies.”
“There is absolutely no reason for police departments to have drones.Look at what the crazies in the police departments have done to innocent people with tasers and guns and pepper spray. Some of those same types will have access to drones.
Drones should be outlawed. Every sale is to support the manufacturers of drones. A necessity to use drones anywhere on the earth is non-existent.
Example: What is the difference between an extended family in Pakistan or a native Palestinian and an American family on US soil? Nothing. Because drones only exist to make a profit. Profit can only be made when old drones wear out and news are purchased . . . so that leaves human beings even closer to extinction.
Is there a way to be overly dramatic about drones? Only if there is a way to be overly dramatic about murder.
Police with drones is A Big Deal.”
ThatsWhatSheSaid on Mar 15, 2013 at 16:12:43
“You did see where this drone doesn't have any weapons, right? And like it says, it replaces helicopters in many instances, so it's not introducing anything new to the police.”
“Unfortunately the murders by drones of innocent families sleeping in their homes is not worth the attention of Congress. Support of using drones as they have been used for at least the last three years is tantamount to support for genocide. Sleeping children are not a threat to anyone in the USA, Stop killing them, understand that if a child is born in Afghanistan or Pakistan that child is a human being. Killing multiple generations of families by drones is reprehensible. Filibuster that.”
Christopher Nagy on Mar 8, 2013 at 17:35:02
“No matter how you look at it, the use of drones results in fewer casualties than putting boots on the ground. A lot fewer civilian casualties, a lot less collateral damage, and zero casualties on our side. If you have to take military action (and that is debatable) then drone strikes are the least of all the bad options.”
Statistical Mechanic on Mar 8, 2013 at 16:40:25
“Unfortunately, it is all too easy to find or train human operators of traditional air assets to deploy kinetic effects on civillian targets irrespective and regardless of the inevitable or even obvious collateral damage. It is my suspicion that Americans who are worried about drone attacks hold to an erronious romantic belief that the men (and soon to be men and women) piloting combat aircraft would hesitate for a second to fire on whatever target they were given. They would not.”

As opposed to the aerial bombings that killed thousands that took place before the use of drones?”

“But you'll only go back three years. You won't go back to the 100,000 Iraqi civilians killed in and unjust war started by President Bush (or more likely Vice President Cheney)?
And let's be clear on what you are asking. You want the Administration to stop fighting terrorism everywhere, right?”

It is not reasonable to accuse an honest person of dishonesty.”
“Do you mean Jane Fonda? She was a young woman naive woman at that time trying to do use her celebrity to bring peace. She had no intent to do harm and it turned into a p.r. stunt for a political faction in VietNam that became the ruling government. A trial for treason would be great because the circumstances would be big news and make the situation apparent. She would have been tried for treason if there had been any substance to the accusation.
Your assumptions are manufactured to demonize Jane Fonda which you do indeed make your opinion known. But do your assumptions have validity? From the point of view of historical fact perhaps they should be rethought.”
pomeria on May 29, 2012 at 11:32:38
“vsnikolai, Please do you math work. Jane Fonda was not a naive woman. She was 35 years old. She had been making movies, for 12 years. U.S. citizens who were not in military, or affiliated with our military were not suppose to travel to Vietnam. That was the the same as a war zone. She went anyway. She apparently loved the attention and did almost anything for publicity. The anti-war protesters she supported were trying to prevent the U.S. government from sending food and amunition to our own U.S. troops. I consider trying to keep food from your own troops to be a low as one can get. She also married a draft dodger. She was not some young naive girl like you think. BUT she really is an excellent actress, had a lot of people convienced. Then tried to say she was sorry. Lot of people, never bought into that.”

“Interesting that you call Nazi Germany Socialist. That is incorrect, obviously. The Nazis' were Fascists. They persecuted members of trade/labor unions and shut down unions from the beginning of their regime. Calling the Nazi party socialism was a trick to attract people but they did not "walk the talk" of socialism which they started out using. Do not get caught in Hitler's word tricks at this time too. Look There was no Socialism. And when you say Communist you should may a point this was a label but also not representative as a way of life - unless you call the prison system in Siberia a commune --- but isn't that quite a stretch?”

“good point. The did refer to themselves as Socialists but when Hitler was trying to rise in politics, he was laughed at and the people wanted nothing to do with him. I believe he was even jailed for a time. It wasn't until he was taken in (to keep an eye on him) that he started to gain positive recognition. He gave post WWI Germans something to believe in.”
“European socialism is a type of capitalism that works better for the citizens (read workers).”
jcdchawk on May 7, 2012 at 00:59:48
“It is a cute statement but could you lay out exactly what you mean. I would agree that in the U.S. we have a form of capitalism that seem to mainly benefit the wealth and a small part of the rest of society. We have a system that says everyone has a right to succeed but has moved away from a economic system that allows opportunity to the average person.
How you see European socialism as a type of capitalism? What I see are countries that, much more then the U.S., where the government and business have given out benefit well beyond what they could reasonable afford. Like the U.S. the people in those countries have pretended they would never have to pay the piper. It seems to me like none of the political parties in those countries want to deal with the problem but have been forced to. Whether the actions that they have taken go to far is something that only time can tell for sure.
That is not to say this country is dealing much better with this problem Here, each political party spend their time going after the political favorite babies of the other party rather than trying to solve the problem thru compromise. We have a mixed capitalism/socialist system at it worse with one party locked into protecting the top 1% and the other party unwilling to seriously acknowledge that we have a broken social system which needs changes.”

“If that were so then wouldn't a teacher make more take home pay in Europe, a factory worker? The median household disposable income is less than the U.S. in every European country and the difference varies from 6000 to 12000 a year. Workers in Europe have less take home pay than here. Less in social security than here. Is that really what you want. Take any job you wish and compare the take home pay of an American and a German with that job and you will find the American worker is better compensated.”

“European economies have RECORD OF minimal job creation over the last 30 years.
The US prior to the housing bubble meltdown... 30,000,000 jobs over the same time frame.
It is a very difficult thing to start a business in Europe.
It is not in the US.
At least it wasn't until 3-1/2 years ago.”
