“My claim was denied not because it was not reported, it was denied because the insurance company said walking was a normal activity and could not be blamed on my job.
Except, my employer ignored my request, and I had to continue to work on a concrete floor.
In addition, once I was taken off the floor and went to see a doctor, who took me out of work, I notified my employer that it was work related, and my employer didn't file a report for over two weeks, a violation of the law.
In addition, the workman's comp company is required to make a determination of eligibility within 20 days.
They did not do so for over 30 days.
Also, a violation of the law.
My health insurance is not catastrophic, only.
My insurance covers all my doctor's visits. It's just that my deductible is so high, $5,000, it might as well be.
Our assumptions and our comments reveal much of what we truly are.”

“I didn't look at my post for over 24 hours. I had a feeling there would be a comment like yours and I wanted to wait so I was in a better frame of mind.
My responsibility is to notify my employer, and their responsibility is to file the report.
I notified my employer and they did not file a report.
The workman's comp law also takes into account that some injuries are not readily apparent and may be cumulative in nature,
My injury is cumulative.
I asked my boss to take me off the location with the concrete floor and reassign me. If this had been done when I requested it, that probably would have been the end of it, and I would not have the extent of injury, I now have.
I work with the public and when the pain became so great that I was limping quite noticeably, they sent me home.”

“Let me guess - you get paid health insurance through your employer, right? What would you do if you suddenly lost that?”

TheOnlooker replied on Nov 22, 2009 at 21:17:19

“At no cost to them? Medicaid is not free. It is based on their income (low though it would be). And hence not an entitlement program like Medicare where crossing an age threshold makes you eligible.”

health care is a right.........but not insurance
----------------------------------------------------------

If health care is a right, then we should have a universal health care system where anyone can get health care. I can go for that.”

msgirlintn replied on Nov 22, 2009 at 22:48:36

“The claim that Tenn Care is anywhere like the new health reform bill is another lie that Marsha Blackburn is telling. And she has been told that it is not like Tenn Care and not to compare the two, but she keeps repeating her talking points.

Go back and read some of the stories that are on the comments for this article. You probably have health care. But the rest of the country needs it. The Republican point of view is "I have it, don't care if others do{". To me, that is the wrong way to think of it. Healthcare is a right not a privilege as John McCain stated at the debate at Belmont.”

“the only way any bill of value will pass is if they do line item by line item on the things most can agree on.

address the following one by one

Insurance companies may not use preexisting conditions when pricing

Insurance companies may not drop you if you get sick as long as the premium is paid

No insurance caps

pricing should be done by group but not age or race”

PJay1 replied on Oct 01, 2009 at 23:56:51

“And what about premiums?
There's been nothing about capping premiums, nor will there be.

Why?

Because the insurance companies don't want caps on premiums.
That's why.”
