And the only way to make ads pay is to get as many eyeballs to your site as possible. Limiting access to people serves only to limit the number of people who will be exposed to your sponsors' ads.

So go ahead, Murdoch, get the world's largest search engine to limit how many articles its users can see. They'll just get their news from other sources and you'll lose out in the long term.”

You can keep repeating that one poll as gospel, but as this article indicates, the republican party continues to hemorrhage members, regardless of what political philosophy people tell pollsters they subscribe to. I can cite polls that show less than 20% identify themselves as republicans. It's clear that the GOP's tactics of egging on the teabaggers is making many thoughtful conservatives nervous at best and offended at worst.
