“Print media continues to slit its own throat.
The bottom line is, the only proven way to make money with online content is through ad revenue, not paid subscriptions. And the only way to make ads pay is to get as many eyeballs to your site as possible. Limiting access to people serves only to limit the number of people who will be exposed to your sponsors' ads.
So go ahead, Murdoch, get the world's largest search engine to limit how many articles its users can see. They'll just get their news from other sources and you'll lose out in the long term.”

“No at all what I said. I'm talking about what people donate money for. How many times have you seen someone making an appeal for donations by saying, "Right now in America, there are millions of people who can't afford to buy their own copy of Transformers 2: Rise of the Fallen on Blu-Ray. Won't you give money so that they can watch this summer's number one blockbuster in full high-definition sound and picture?"

“Polls have little to do with what individuals think. I'm a content person, but you don't appear to be.
You can keep repeating that one poll as gospel, but as this article indicates, the republican party continues to hemorrhage members, regardless of what political philosophy people tell pollsters they subscribe to. I can cite polls that show less than 20% identify themselves as republicans. It's clear that the GOP's tactics of egging on the teabaggers is making many thoughtful conservatives nervous at best and offended at worst. Forty percent agreeing with much of their stated philosophy is not going to win any elections for a party if they continue to alienate 80% of voters.”
