Lord of the Gingers

“Being wealthy has not stopped community members from whining about teacher's salaries. One Calabasas parent wrote a letter to the Acorn suggesting that teachers should work without pay for some time because they were already making $60,000 a year. As if any teacher could afford to live in Calabasas on that salary.”

“Agreed. In this community, if the subjects of the violence had been Jewish or black, this would be labeled a hate crime....and, it should be in this case as well.”

“No. "Hate" is only applicable to certain groups approved by our illustrious leaders.”

“Second Try:

That 60th vote will not come soon. The Dems can expect to lose seats in the next election, partly due to their treatment of Joe.

Joe will be gone when the people of Connecticut want him gone. Until then, the first term independent Senator from Connecticut will continue hold all the perqs rightfully due to the Dems that were next in line to become members and chairs of committees now held by the FIRST TERM INDEPENDENT Senator from Connecticut.”

“In California, the War on Drugs has resulted in a 30% drop in the murder rate in LA and also a big drop in gang activity. Of course, our prisons are overloaded and we are paying a big price to keep drug criminals (often sellers, not users) locked up.

Several years ago, more people were killed on the streets of LA than Israelis killed by Palestinians. Think the number was about 1200.”

TRex86 replied on Nov 28, 2009 at 15:21:42

“Just think how much better it would be if drugs were decriminalized. Most would be available legally via treatment/maintenance programs. We would especially benefit from the impact on opium production in Afghanistan, sending that God-foraken place back to the Stone Age without dropping a single bomb.”

“Hear, hear. Many emotionally unstable and/or psychotic people hear God talking to them in whatever religious mode they were indoctrinated in as a child. It would have been a surpirse if he had uttered "Onward, Christian Soldiers" of "Mozel Tov". Of course, then the issue of terrorism would not have been introduced as a motive.”

cheeriogirl replied on Nov 27, 2009 at 17:40:02

“Agreed. How many Christians ride in car with a bumper sticker saying, "God is my CoPilot" yet no one bats an eye.

BTW, the medical term for this is religious ideation; it's fairly common in mental illness.”

“I think that you are speaking to the crux of the matter. The same is true for non-coms. And when they are arrested and tried by military tribunals, most go free and can return to their untis. One of the last Marines tried for murder insisted that he be returned to active duty. Isn't it a fact that recruiting criteria have been lowered a great deal over the past three years?”
