“I didn't fully realize exactly how gorgeous Jesus was until I saw him in Madonna's "Celebration" video when Madonna snuggles up next to him. When Madonna takes off his jacket, I am grateful not to have heart problems. I woulda been a goner. Yea, Madonna's pimping him, but don't expect me to file a complaint.

“Thank you for your response. At times parts of my life were extremely painful to share. I actually hope that the sharing benefits someone. The anonymity of the net also helps me to be able to share.

My sister and I live in the same city on the other side of the country from my 3 other siblings. I am not a person who processes stress very well. Given a sufficient amount of stress some very bizarre things happen with me. As you can imagine my sister's life tends to be rather stressful, and for some reason she feels the need to share. I used to come to her rescue, putting myself in harms way. Over time, I have come to learn that you can not save someone from abuse, if they don't actually want to be saved. I'll give you an incident. My sister lived in a city nearby. She called me because her husband, a repeat offender, had beaten her. I travel to this city, and my sister refuses to some with me. She changed her mind. She said her husband needed someone to take care of him. She was afraid that if she left, he might find another woman. My sister didn't have any kids and she didn't need her husband for financial support. Later her husband told me that he could have killed me. When I was a kid, I had an uncle, a gay man, who was killed while protecting a woman in a bar.”

“What you did was transfer an argument about Adam and basically proceed to an attack on all Gays. It you wanted to say something about the propriety or impropriety of Adams performance. Either way I would actually have been okay with but that's not what you did. You proceeded to attack all Gays. And for some reason you seem not to realize that is bigotry. “I want to share something from my life regarding battery. Before I continue I want to say that this is absolutely not a comment on Chris Brown or Rihanna. Everyone has a different story.

When my family separated from my father, I was just turning 7. The batterer in my home was my mother. My stepdad never laid a finger on us kids. I am the youngest in my family and my eldest sister is several years older than me. As I was entering my teens, she was leaving them. In ways, I think my eldest sister got the worst of it. My mom even hit her with a crow bar. She also fired a gun at her. To be honest I saw my mom running outside in her underwear, and she fired the gun in the air. Of course, my sister didn't know this as she was running away. I didn't learn until much later that people actually can be killed from bullets fired in the air. There was another incident where my Mom chased my sister through the house. When my sister shut the front door behind her, my mom struck it with such force that she actually cracked her ribs. Oddly, this sister is the only one of my siblings who has consistently partnered herself with someone who is abusive. Also oddly, I doubt that my mother's abuse is the source of this strange behavior.”

Regarding Rihanna, she checked his cell phone. Any woman who does this already has a problem. Let's be clear I am not saying she's at fault or he's at fault. I am simply saying that anytime trust goes out of a relationship it is doomed.

“I think you have to be careful when using the word overcome. I said I didn't grow up to be a batterer. It doesn't mean that getting battered didn't leave some lasting effects. I'll give you an example. I won't attribute it all to battering; life is far too complex fot that, but I am certain that being battered contributed to this issue. Since my late teens, Occasionally, I suffer from a temporary paralysis, totally psychological in origin. Truthfully, I actually suffer from two different types of paralysis. Carl Sagan actually helped me to better cope with the one. But the one I am speaking of now is the rarer one. I have only heard of one other person who has this condition. I can't stop it from happening, and when it does, it clusters. Meaning I may go years without an episode, and then there are lots. There's not any medication I can take for it, and as far as I know there's no mental therapy. The best thing I can do is to control the amount of stress in my life so that it doesn't happen.”

Someone mentioned Chris Brown. I hadn't a clue who he was, so I asked "Who is he?" Several people responded with the description that I related. So that's the way I filed it away in my brain. The next time I heard the name Chris Brown there was a report regarding the assault on Rihanna. Now although, I basically know nothing of Chris I did know who Rihanna was simply because I like the umbrella song. I do not simply listen to one genre of music, and I don't follow who happens to be popular. And I don't listen to the radio. So although someone may be very popular, I may not have a clue who they are. But then I do know who Cheb Mami is, who Dan Balan is, Who Crazy Loop is, Who Chelo is. I know what Rai is and I know what reggaeton is. And most people wouldn't have a clue of what I am talking about.”

And as far as abused goes. I was abused as a child, I have mentioned it on this blog before, but I did not grow up to be a batterer. And as far as stories go, I'll bet dollars to donuts that I have one that is more interesting than Chris Brown, and before you go off on a tangent, I do not intend that to be a disparagement of Chris Brown, it is just simply my story would probably be more interesting than most people, and that's actually not a brag. The most interesting stories generally come with a lot of pain. I have a friend who has known me for decades, and she has encouraged me to go on Oprah to tell my story. She is absolutely certain that Oprah would have me on. If you knew me you would understand why, But I am not ready to make that call.”

If you read my first statement you will see where I said I don't now very much about Chris Brown - I couldn't even tell you a single song that he sings. Before the beating happened someone told me about Chris Brown and they used the word role model. Basically, they were trying to tell me that Chris wasn't a gangster. I only put the link up as a reference, and since it's Chris Brown's official website, he is free to take that page down at any time - or didn't you know that. My concern about batterers is fake? You really don't know me.

“I'll admit that I don't actually know much about Chris Brown - mainly that he beat up Rihanna. However, I do have friends who think Chris is talented, attractive, and, until the beating, a role model. That was what I found so disturbing about the beatings - this was the guy they called a role model. That is certainly a difference between these two entertainers. Obviously, Adam Lambert is not positioning himself to be a children's role model, but that is apparently what Chris Brown has done. Check out his website. I sincerely hope he has reformed himself because a role model who is a batterer is not what we need. Besides he and I both share Cinco de Mayo as our birthdays.
