“So what? Sarah Palin is a gift to the Dems that keeps on giving. Look how well she did for us in NY 23! I say give her a bigger bus, throw Beck and Limbaugh on it, and let them do the Pre G-No-P primary road trip! You betcha!”

“...yeah. To bad they overpaid for the first million of them. They started at $25.99 and I just saw an ad on CNN hawking them for $4.00. More proof that rightwingers aren't very bright : they overpay more than six times for a book they will give away to their base who they've dumbed down to the point that they can't read it anyway.”

“Your statement is espousing the dumbing down of America. How sad. The G-No-P has been trying to accomplish this for YEARS by cutting education funding and jacking college tuitions. It is far easier to dupe and dominate the uneducated. No wonder we are rapidly falling behind the rest of the world in education, technology, innovation and production. And you are sitting there and cheering our decline. America will never stay a superpower or a leader in ANYTHING if we continue to celebrate ignorance and incompetence.”

“People die who HAVE insurance. Try watching the news once in awhile. Insurance companies dropped a woman with cancer in the middle of her chemo. She died. A girl needed a liver transplant and the insurance company wouldn't cover it. They reversed themselves when the public turned on them but it was too late. The girl died. and hospitals will not treat people endlessly for free. They are only required to treat you if it is an EMERGENCY. Even then, if their ER is at capacity, they can lock the doors and turn away ambulances.”

“Nobody votes for a party just because they are against something. If they don't stand FOR anything, they lose. That's not my opinion, it's political fact. When the Dems ran the Anything But Bush campaign they were clobbered because they weren't FOR anything. Neither are the Rethugs now. Ask them what their 2010-2012 platform is besides 'bash the other guy', and they've got a big fat zero. Which is exactly the number of seats they will win back in 2010”

“Newsflash, Larkin. The majority of Americans DO want this bill passed. You would know that if you read this article, the Gallup Poll, the AP Poll, the Kaiser Family Poll, the Democracy Corp. Poll, read a newspaper, listened to Republicans Bob Dole, Bill Frist, Tommy Thompson and Mickey Edwards, or watched anything other than Faux News. The Town Brawls were orchestrated by the Tea Party group, whose membership is about 1 million. The population of this country is 3 HUNDRED million. Health care opponents are the MINORITY no matter WHAT math you use. A Democracy means the MAJORITY decides. Deal with it.”

“What is this obsession with deregulation? Without rules that force good behavior, people will naturally abuse the system for their own benefit. If you doubt that, take away all the speed limit signs, traffic lights, drunk driving laws, seat belt laws and cell phone restriction laws. Then sit at a major intersection at rush hour and let me know how well it works.”

Also, though I have been politically active for 43 years, I have never known who my elceted representatives are and would never have known how to discover that without your superior knowledge and intelligence. Thanks for gracing me with your condescending attention. I doubt I could have gone on living without it.
My experience has been that email is not read within a few hours. I was calling because there was an urgent push for THAT ONE DAY to contact Senator Reid.
Thanks for playing, though.”

Why Joe Biden Should Resign
Commented Oct 16, 2009 at 22:10:39 in World
“Why should Biden have a Sarah Palin moment? In other words, why should he resign just because things aren't going his way? That seems to be the GOPuke strategy: If I you won't do what I say, I'll take my ball and go home". Biden needs to stay put. He's no shrinking violet. His position is well known to the public AND the president. He needs to stay right where he is and continue to exert pressure.”

“The Rethugs are powerless to turn this hatefest around. Their base is a bunch of knuckle-dragging xenophobes. They are forced to whip them into a rage to get them to the voting booth every cycle, and unfortunately, minorities are their scapegoat of choice. If you doubt that, just think back to the 2008 McCain/Palin presidential campaign. The GOP has painted itself into a corner. They will continue pandering to these wackos till the their party goes the way of the dinosaur. I, for one, couldn't be happier to see them go.”

“I wonder if Miguel Estrada shares your views of the Republicans after all it was GW Bush that nominated him for the Federal appeals court in 2003 and it was the Dems who repeatedly blocked his nomination by a Senate filibuster. But I did not see the Dems worrying about alienating Hispanics. If someone wants to be the best they can be and have the freedom to make as much money they want, and want a smaller Gov't and less taxes then I say welcome to the Republican party, but if getting the Hispanic vote means giving them a free ride and allowing those who are here illegally to have access to our entitlements then I say stay with the Dems since they are the experts at keeping minorities slaves to the Federal Gov't for generations and see what it has done for the black community in the inner cities.”

“How is this a contradiction? Genesis 1:27 says that God created both man and woman in his image. Genesis 2:21 and 2:22 simply describe how he did it. It would be like a medical book giving an overview of the purpose of a procedure in the beginning of a chapter, then going on to describe it later in further detail. You may disagree with the description of Creation, but it is definitely not a contradiction.”
Willow-the-Witch replied on Oct 07, 2009 at 14:06:54
“There is definitely an inconsistency, if not a contradiction. Genesis 1 appears to describe Elohim (plural) as creating males & females from the clay in their image.
Later in Genesis 2, there is a description of the female being created at a later time because God (singular) saw that Adam was lonely and thus, Eve was created from Adam's rib.
Now, you may not consider it a contradiction. But there is definitely inconsistency both in timing and raw materials.”

“"What we have today" in terms of the Bible is a translation of original texts written thousands of years ago by the disciples and others with firsthand knowledge of events. It is a historical as well as a religious document. It should be translated as accurately as possible into the English language without trying to manipulate the true text as it originally existed. The wing-nuts, haters and outright loonies can VERBALLY interpret it any way they wish, but NOBODY should be allowed to manipulate the actual writings in order to promote their political agenda. It is sick and disgusting.”

“I would recommend reading "Misquoting Jesus". It is a very interesting book about the creation of the Bible that we know today.
For example the letters of Paul that are part of the New Testament (Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, etc...) were used to promote his view of the operations and teachings of the early Christian church. Basically they most definitely had some political motives in some of his writings.”
