“Are conservatives so dense as to assume that liberals are not thankful to the troops? We, however, have the depth to ask for deeper solutions/options to war. That is not disrespectful to the troops. In fact, it is the ultimate respect - trying to save their lives.”

“How does one learn to speak standard English when one's parents do not speak it? Do you expect the schools to be the only ones to teach these kids how to speak? They enter the school systems speaking "how they speak at home"...and hear it exclusively when they leave school after 7 hours. Easier route, SusanStoHelit??? What is easy about ghetto life?”

Top Chef New York: Season Finale Liveblog

Commented Feb 26, 2009 at 12:51:00 in Entertainment

“Chef Tom has always had snarky things to say about Carla; remember when Jacques Pepin was practically swooning over her food, and Colicchio was dismissive, minimizing her talent? And again, when Emeril was talking about how good her food was, Tom minimized his compliments by saying that she is from the South, so she naturally understands the cuisine. Unfortunately Carla screwed up in the finale; I was so in hopes that she would win, just to see Tom squirm.”

“There are mistakes, and then there is total incomprehension of subject matter, or policy...SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL SHE TALKS ABOUT, BUT STILL KEEPS ON TALKING AND WINKING!!!!

I am very afraid of the many citizens who found her acceptable, even preferrable to Biden, or even to Obama. When did our electorate dumb down to the point that she could even be considered a serious contender for a national office?”

kingofscotts replied on Jan 02, 2009 at 15:32:33

“Ok so would you call one of the longest serving senators who happened to chair the Foreign Relations Comm. someone who should have a "comprehension of subject matter"????

If so how the hell did Biden get away with making up history and claiming we kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon?

That is not a gaffe. That is a complete and utter lie. That is a complete willingness to make shit up whenever you want.

That is scary.”

“Was I the only one who had a cold shiver run down my spine at the news that the Bidens would be having dinner at the lair...oops, home of the current Veep and his bride? I felt terror, pity, sorrow, and fear at the announcement; I know that it's protocol, but geez. The Bidens really had to take one for the team; can you imagine the polite dinner conversation? The awkward lulls? The sneers?? The furtive stolen glances for any loaded weapons? Secretly checking to see if the Angler cast a reflection in the decorative mirrors??”

“The state of Arkansas as well passed a similar ban that included the ban of any single person(gay or straight) or any unmarried couples from fostering and/or adopting children. I am outraged at the people who allegedly support a 'culture of life' denying some children the experience of having a family life outside of the child welfare system.

As one who works in the public child welfare system, I am grateful for any qualified, willing foster and adoptive parents - regardless of sexual identity/orientation. Please let's organize and pushback against the ignorance and hate displayed in the denial of any American's civil rights.”
