“Sounds like a great platform for you to launch your campaign advocating for better language education! If fewer people botched the written language, you wouldn't have to see [sic] used so often! Cheers!!”
“The epitome of "being the bigger person". It's much too easy to just assume the thief is a horrible individual to the core, but we can never truly know what anyone is going through in any given moment. Nope, never an excuse for stealing from others, but the true reward goes to those who chose to open their hearts and be giving rather than judge and be nasty. Lovely demonstration of what real humanity looks like and exactly what the holiday spirit is all about. Great story! :)”
GOP, just be freakin' human, for crying out loud. We women want you to work through your Mommy & Daddy issues on your own time. You can't preach big government and personal responsibility, then turn around and position government to heavily subsidize industry and try to micromanage the very private health decisions of 52% of the US population. It's your mind-numbing hypocrisy that is decimating your fan base, not your "lack of sensitivity toward women".
These jerks are so insulated from what life is really like for a couple hundred million of us. It is sooooo past time to clean house and get representatives who actually like Americans and want to see this country prosper as a whole, not just those named Koch or Walton.”
“Ahahahah people in industrial LA County complaining about jalapeno fumes! I'd think that would be literally a breath of fresh air compared to the diesel and smog that normally fills the air along that corridor... There's probably more to what meets the eye here (ha! no pun intended), but as they said, harvest is over and the fumes are likely a seasonal event I'm sure. But they've got to figure it out! I LOVE SRIRACHA!”
“Interesting how you need to change the subject entirely to continue the argument.
Driving statistics are included under the death due to injury category, and drug poisoning still kills more people than car accidents no matter the cause.
Now I don't condone anyone getting behind the wheel of a car while under the influence of any mind-altering substance, that is just stupid.
But the fact still remains that weed is not a lethal drug. Pharmaceuticals are. And death by pharmaceutical poisoning is the leading cause of death under the "death due to injury" category, and 4th leading cause of death overall and on the rise.
These are facts.
I'm all done with you now, go ahead and chime in on some other irrelevant and useless statistic. You get the last word, make it a good one.
And have a lovely day.”

“Who changed? I cited the deaths and injury from marijuana use.”
You're listing diseases, my comment was in the context of your mention of Rx marijuana. Drug poisoning is obviously not a disease, but pharmaceutical poisoning ranks 4th deadliest overall. As many cases go unreported, however, or attributed to other causes, I believe it to be higher than that. Anecdotal, sure, but still logical.
BTW there are zero documented deaths due to marijuana poisoning or overdose ever. Happy Thanksgiving!”

“Poisoning deaths and deaths from injuries are not the same as total deaths.
26.9% of seriously injured drivers tested
positive for marijuana. There are 127 million current users of alcohol in America and, and because of restrictive drug policies, only 15 million smoke marijuana. In spite of this, alcohol
was only involved with 15% of injured drivers compared to marijuana at 26.9%. Per capita,
marijuana smokers cause 18 times more injury accidents than alcohol.
“If only more docs would prescribe marijuana. Rx pharmaceuticals are the number one cause of death in this country today.”

“Employers don't get a bill each month for what insurance coverage their employees use. (?) Employers purchase a group plan and pay a price which is based on the number of subscribers (aka employees) that will be on that plan. Then they typically let the insurer provide documentation of what is and isn't covered, and after taking advantage of the tax breaks offering coverage provides, they likely pass along most of the cost of said premiums to the employee to pay with pre-tax dollars.
If a procedure is medically necessary in a doctor's opinion, that is a battle that the employee and the doctor has with the insurance company itself. The employer has absolutely nothing to do with it.”

“Welcome to Amerika™: Where your labor can easily be replaced by the ever-expanding slave labor of the for-profit prison population, or outsourced workers abroad, and you only get the freedoms you can afford to buy.
You stay classy, United States.”
“Yes capitalism did bring people out of poverty WHEN IT WAS REGULATED. Now that it is out of control it has created and continues to create exponentially more poverty. Regulating capitalism so that it is sustainable is an entirely different thing than "sliding into socialism". Yes, that means capitalism is fine and we progressives like having it around even despite the conservative talking point that we are anti-capitalism.”
“Wow, that is a powerful thing to share, THANK YOU! I so appreciate hearing your perspective. And it makes me sad to hear about people who would rather see their children living with the devastating effects of shame over them being honest about who they are inside. Shame is debilitating and destructive. I hope one day your husband might have the courage to let go of his fear, I know that's a powerful thing as well. I hate to think of your family being strained by something so unnecessary. Maybe your kids will get through to him one day just by living more compassionate lives. I tend to believe kids are put on this earth to teach US a few things we need to know as well. We just have to let them... All the very best to you! :)”
“Geez, where on earth did you get that idea? I said nothing anywhere near that. Noooo, insurance companies are doing exactly what they do - whatever it takes to make more money. They are shuffling their policies around (because they can) to position themselves to make more money once this thing gets straightened out and they are literally handed millions of new subscribers. If we had single payer, industry wouldn't have this much power. ACA doesn't tell them to drop people. The insurance companies make that decision to change their existing policies, and it is AWESOME FOR THEM that now they have the ACA to take the blame for it when the public gets pissed about it.”
“Obama is following the same protocol that has been carefully established for the last 30 years of letting industry dictate what is best for the American people. There needs to be a balance of industry and government. Once upon a time corporations were straight-up denied charter if they couldn't prove their value to the community. Now corporations simply buy whatever they need to enrich themselves, including government officials and the media (it is in the nature of the corporate structure to do so) and instead of doing what needs to be done to restrain their tendencies so that they may be sustainable, we hand them more power because they've "told us government is bad". Government that is bought and manipulated by industry is bad. We need to get back to our checks and balances and a population that is properly informed, and reinstate government to a viable voice of the people to counterbalance the true nature of the corporate system so that we can keep both.”
“The thing that gets me is all the talk about how this is a prime example of what happens when "government takes over". WRONG. This is what happens when we let INDUSTRY call the shots. This is just a glimpse of how privatization will undo everything. Obama has always been corporatist, it's why I voted 3rd party. It's why I rage against all things privatized, "we the people" lose every time, and a precious few laugh all the way to the bank while the rest of us stand in shock as to why we trusted the BS rhetoric they spewed to get us to support their plan to enrich themselves.”

“So you think the insurance companies are acting against their own economic interests & dropping people, just to poke a stick in the President's eye? Really?
The next time the President offers a personal guarantee, who are you going to believe? This President, or your lying eyes?”

“So Obama is bad because he isn't more of a Socialist?”
“Wow. That's unbelievable. Prime example of what I see as the mechanics of a belief system completely negating its original intent to bring people together. We're all on this space rock together, I just get so mind boggled at why so many people want to spend so much time all tied in knots hatefully judging each other. I'm not religious, but isn't it a big thing in the bible to let god do the judging and we are supposed to be kind to each other? It sure feels better to look for and celebrate the good in people. :)”
“Which of the congressional leaders you voted for brought that bill to the table?
Yeah, I didn't think so.
There is no such thing as a free market. A manipulated market, yes, but too much greed would never allow it to be free. Read Naomi Klein Shock Doctrine. You might learn something about your "free market".”
“It simply doesn't make sense that an industry would drop clients when the very foundation of its success is based on there being a large pool of subscribers. Which this will ultimately hand them millions of once this gets sorted out. But the government STILL won't be able to negotiate prices down, because our government only protects the bottom line profits of the corporations.
The government simply put together a freaking website to connect to PRIVATE INSURERS.
I take that back. This isn't the government doing or building anything. They even outsourced the website to a private contractors.
That is why WE PROGRESSIVES WANTED SINGLE PAYER.”

“Any true act of love between two people is moral in my opinion. And any morality judgement is ultimately between those people and their god. Not me, and certainly not you.
If you don't believe in gay marriage, don't marry a person of the same sex as you. Although if you do happen to be gay (as most homophobes latently tend to be) I hope you are able to one day enjoy true connection with the person you love.
Meanwhile, I know too many amazing people who have been in loving committed relationships for years who are happily celebrating that love with the friends and family who love them dearly as they get married.”

“The evidence says we have a Creator, and the Bible is His Word.
The Bible agrees with you, acts of love between 2 people are moral… if you are speaking of agape, philia or storge, the Greek words for principled love, family love and tender affection or brotherly love respectively.
However eros, romantic love, is reserved for love between a man and a woman.
We are born with this instinct, those that allow a craving for adulterous, homosexual, incestuous or other types of romance are yielding to an immoral desire. Just as it is immoral to fall in love with another’s mate, it is immoral to have romance with one of the same gender, family etc.
There are fulfilling relationships to be had with agape, philia and storge. Romance between the same gender however is immoral.”
