“You must be kidding me. My father is 63 and my mother is 59. Just because they are older doesn't mean they don't know how to raise and care for a family. Disease can come at any age. Anyone at any age can get cancer, not just older people. Ignorant swine.”
“they need rehabilitation, not a life sentence. they're young, stupid, and probably will regret this as time goes on. i just think it's awful we prosecute minors as adults for things they do not know the consequences of.
just my opinion, to each his own!”

“I am with you on the "to each his own" thing, but, um, the boy needs to be seriously considered dangerous... The girl, even though she plotted and went along, the boy actually acted and slit that womans throat. Life sentence for the girl.. ehhh.. let her out when she is 25... What happens though when she gets out and doesnt like somebody and decides to just kill them? One life given for her given a second chance? Its so hard to judge!”

“We were all young and stupid at one point, this goes WAY beyond that. I have no interest in rehabilitating them.”
pciorlandosales on Mar 31, 2014 at 23:46:36
“and it's a very good opinion Beth ... How can the same court tell a minor they can not decide to have sex consensualy ... but they can be held accountable as an adult for committing a crime. Isn't it the same person? Personally I do not believe a minor should be capable of making either decision. (and be treated as an adult)”
“i would like a source, also. considering there have been men handed 30 day prison sentences for raping young girls who have committed suicide, i find it hard to believe there is a 16 year old boy in prison for life for rape.”
“is anyone even taking into consideration the mental and emotional damage this 14 year old has sustained? she received no justice. i'm sickened that a 30-day sentence was even ordered to a child rapist. america is disgusting now.”

“Not to mention this sweet young girl whom this monster violated killed herself because of the trauma he put her through!”
“the dog didn't attack. he was barking and making noise. approached him, but never jumped on him or lunged at him. it's sad that a postal worker can handle dogs unarmed while a police officer can't even do that. how pathetic and senseless. fire him.”
Adam Hose on Feb 12, 2014 at 19:05:09
“"never lunged at him" replay and pay attention at the 33 second mark. The dog clearly lunges at the officer. And it's obvious by the officers voice that he is shaken up by it. Sure I think he should of used non-lethal methods but this wasn't a case of a bullying officer out to purposely kill dogs.”
“i think prisons need to exist, but i don't think all prisoners should be treated the same. for example, someone who is doing time for weed possession shouldn't be treated the same as a child molester. someone who was convicted of retail theft shouldn't be treated like a serial killer. those who take another life or harm someone in a life threading way should be living in "worse" conditions. though i don't believe prisons should look as fancy and chic as the ones in scandinavia. and inmates definitely shouldn't have access to new tv's and computers and whatnot. that's a little too much.”
“being a person with mental illness, this is absolutely terrible to read. i admit to having hallucinations and memory loss and mood disorders, and reading stories like this scares me. i can only pray that he will get the help he needs. this is such a sad story. prayers for the family.”

“Bethany, thank you for sharing such a personal detail. It is so imprtant that we talk about mental health and not just sweep it under the rug or pretend that it doesn't exsist. Myself and my father have been dealing with mental illness for all of his life and most of my adult life. My father has severe depression and mild form of autism and when I was 17 I was diagnosed with severe depression. But my parents, mostly my mother, didn't just ignore it and took me to get the help that I didn't recognize I needed. If she hadn't have gotten me help, I can honestly say, I wouldn't be here today. What she did was a brave thing for a mother to do, because I know it couldn't be easy ( especially with the stigma of metal illness) for her to do what she did. Now, with the proper medication and therapy, I am happy, healthy 30 year old wife and mother. I just wish people would stop being so scared of mental illness and dismissing it, because this is what happens when there is not enough resources or help. This Mother tried to help her son, but because no help was available, she had to deal with it the best she could and sadly that was by locking her door at night. I hope he gets the help that he obviously so desperatly needed to begin with”

“Bethany, bless your heart. I hope that you have the best love and support.”
“sometimes parents don't teach the children "religious superstition" and the kids pick it up off the media or the internet. it's not always the parents fault...”
corinnabe on Feb 13, 2014 at 20:37:43
“True, but it's rare. If parents teach their children the difference between reality and mythology and superstition, they won't likely believe any nonsense they see on TV. Kids tend to side with their parents world-view.”
“no pedophile is going to go to group counseling before they attack a child. although i'm all for preventive treatment, in the situation of protecting the well being of a child, i don't think they should approach pedophiles any different way. the child will forever be scarred while the pedophile is getting leniency due to this study.”
Martin Koolstra on Feb 7, 2014 at 21:31:14
“In many mental health Hospitals are groups of pedophilia patients who gather for discussions and support from Psychiatrists. They may be in a group of people who have pedophilic tendencies but never have acted on them, another group who have acted out their urges and are not happy about it and lastly a group who have been arrested and are now released just like any other criminal. The common notion that pedophiles are violent towards children is a myth. Most of them are part of incest families who are not traumatized as they have been exposed to and are part of it and see it as a normal part of life.
I wish more people would take the effort to do some research before making uneducated guesses. This is why pedophiles don't report their feelings to Doctors.”
Tazarina57 on Feb 7, 2014 at 13:24:33
“Some pedophiles do indeed seek help before they ever act on their impulses, the problem has never been that they don't seek help, the problem has always been in how to help them. We now have better information as to the cause of pedophilia, which might give better insight into how to treat it. So of course we need to approach pedophilia in a different way, because if treatment can be found that works, that's a better solution than keeping them locked up. Not all pedophiles want to be the way that they are, the same as with alcoholics and drug addicts.
No one has ever stated that a pedophile should be treated with leniency for acting on his impulses, what is being said is that we now have more information that could help treat them. And isn't that what should be the most important thing concerning us? Treating them so that they cannot and will not hurt our children?”
yellow marshmallow on Feb 6, 2014 at 17:57:23
“No one is suggesting 'leniency' for sexually abusing a child. Are you suggesting that we not 'study' any further in case something we don't like is learned? Knowledge is power. Imagine being able to arrest these behaviours before a child is hurt.”
“i still don't get why people play with guns as if they're toys. a gun should always be considered loaded and it should never be pointed at someone you don't intend on shooting.
i thought it was common sense but i guess not.”
PaulCShipper on Dec 6, 2013 at 22:29:29
“because guns are like toys and we have a religion behind them. They should be considered as deadly weapons.. but our politics says otherwise.
The sad thing is, the guy who own the gun is at fault.. he wanted to show his new toy to people who would have never touched a real gun and passed it around as if it was a toy.”
“if the police were called and on their way, why did this man take the liberty to go out and shoot him dead, rather than locking the doors and staying inside in a safe place? i think it's a bit reckless and charges should be filed against him.”
