“That's fair enough. Sometimes I can't keep up with the arguments. But then, I remember back when the gay rights movement insisted it would never do something, like, make folks change the country around to conform to them - they just wanted to be left alone, allowed to live as they live without being harmed. Heck, I can even remember in the ancient days of the gay rights movement when the word 'choose' was still attached to being gay. Gay marriage! That's what the religious nuts cried would happen if we gave an inch and actually suggested people shouldn't be beaten up for who they are. Not so fast! responded the activists. Gay rights advocates insisted it would never, ever go that far (that's back in the 70s when the first openly gay proponents were beginning to be sought out for interviews). So things change, and what 'it's nobody's business' meant thirty years ago no longer means what 'it's nobody's business' means today. But then, they also said it would never go so far as to open up for other things, like polyamourous relationships. So, there you go.”
