“We live in the age of the Big Lie. The Right Wing has seen that it works. So they will keep using it. Not a new approach but quickly widespread in the age we live in. We must be ever vigilant and smack down everything they say. My personal feeling is they never start with the Truth ever. Assume that what Faux news and their sycophantic menions say is a calculated lie. If it turns out to be the truth; it will be rare.”

“I worked hard on his campaign. He owes me an explanation. I don't care diddly whether you are Democrat Brethren or not. I demand to know why you sold out a major campaign promise. I'm waiting. Convince me.”
LiberalScoop replied on Dec 21, 2009 at 23:57:23
“When did he guarantee he'd get this done the first time? If he said that during the campaign, you would have called him a looney. That would have been an empty campaign promise. Trust me, this is not over, yet. It may spill over into the months following the 2010 elections, but it will happen.”

The Moral Hazard of U.S. Global Interventions

“This is maybe a perfectly naive question but if Global Terrorism is such a danger, why is America sacrificing our troops, killing more innocents and spending virtually every dime we have on it? I know that other countries are "represented" but where are the real sacrifices from our Allies? WWII was fought by millions of troops from all over the world. Why doesn't China have 250,000 troops in Afghanistan?”
realitytrumpsbull replied on Dec 19, 2009 at 13:12:50
“That's a good question, but I think it kind of goes along with what they used to talk about, the 'coalition of the billing', meaning that other countries supported the Iraq war to the extent they were basically getting paid to support the Iraq war, that kind of thing.
I think this is a lot of bald-faced B.S. What's overseas that we really care about? Resources.
Iraq? Oil. Afghanistan? Probably minerals. Let's cut to the chase, and be honest about some of this, for a change.”

“it's 60 votes - 60 votes - 60 votes - like it or not the Senators that continue to benefit from the status quo are in office NOW. You can't change that until an election takes place - they are what they are - accept the reality. President Obama has to deal with realities - he has to be the "grown up" in the room and work with what exists - not what we hope for - I think he is an idealist and has a vision for America but to move towards that vision he has to work incrementally with what he has for support. The key towards making it better aren't the shills in the Senate - its the understanding and support of the people as as our President works to shift the focus of America and its government back to the people and their needs and away from the corporate special interests. We all need to hold on to our ideals but also deal in reality.”

“Politics is the art of compromise. Obama is also Black. I voted for him and knocked on doors for him for over 2 years so I am a believer but it occurred to me that his being Black and having to deal with that in this world means that when he can get part of something he may think that's better than getting nothing at all. I still think he is a smart and decent man but I wonder if his expectations are too low. Even after making History with the election he still may have mind sets that direct his thinking. Mindsets that need to go away. Compromise is a reality but so is standing your ground.”

“Do you think Rahm Emanuel is decent? How about Rubin, Geitner, Summers and the list goes on. I mention these names because they are the folks running this country. Obama is just their tool.
I appreciate the work you did in the hopes Obama would be different, however it's a fact he's extending Bush's policies without a beat. This isn't about his color, this is about his character.
He's been disposing of people like Greg Craig in his administration who tried to help guide his moral compass in closing GITMO and prohibiting torture. These are choices he made and there was no need for him to do so.
Obama is firing people who are just left of Dick Cheney...i s that what you wanted when you knocked on doors. No, you wanted a leader who would stand up for the many and not perpetuate this fascist corporate government initiated by Reagan and carried to extremes with Clinton and the Bush family.”

“I am a Democrat through and through. The Democrat Party is this Nation's only hope. The only thing wrong with the Party is that it has Blue Dogs in it. They are really Republicans. I will keep working in elections to get more Liberals elected to the Party. Whenever I get discouraged, I just look back at our Nation's History and can see that we have made real progress on many fronts. Most of that progress has been from Liberal minded people. It is an irony of our History that many of the issues that were supported by only a minority eventually came to pass and are now considered middle of the road. For example, Slavery, Women's Rights, the Vietnam War . . . even Medicaid which Ronald Reagan said was Socialism and would ruin the country. This past Summer I saw the ridiculous "Tea Baggers" no not the Homosexual kind, HA! protesting that the Liberals were going to take away their Medicare. They are complete idiots. Dumb about History and dumb about the present. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. How could any sane citizen want to be a Republican?”

“I had an interesting discussion with a Wells Fargo Loan Officer today. She wanted to help my wife and I refinance our Primary residence to a lower interest rate. That's it. That's all we wanted. We make very good money and own 5 houses. One of them we own outright. We have no car loans. But because we have some debt, they won't refinance our primary. I have never heard a Loan Officer frustrated with her own bank. She admitted that it makes no business sense for the Bank or me or her or the U.S. economy. I guess it makes sense to the Fat Cats at the top who know that they can do whatver they want; get bailed out and then give themselves bonuses with OUR Money. The Federal Government should take over the Banks and start loaning it to the People.”
