To archive your goals, why not use this strategy? The Soviets introduced visualization for physical performance and with this contribution improved the goal-setting skills of many successful athletes who have implemented this strategy.
Charles Garfield talks in his book "Peak Performance, Mental Training Techniques of the World's Greatest Athletes" about the study conducted by the Soviet sports scientists. A study was conducted among 4 groups:
Group 1 - 100% performance training
Group 2 - 75 % performance training and 25% mental training
Group 3 - 50 % performance training and 50% mental training
Group 4 - 25% performance training and 75% mental training
The research found that Group 4 showed the best improvements of performance compared to Groups 3, 2, and 1.
What does this have to do with physical exercise and you changing your body appearance?
Everything. Before you execute a movement you need to know how to move your body correctly and to activate the required muscles. Also, your activation threshold will be higher. To build a defined, functioning body you need to know how to execute movements first.
Too many times individuals just mindlessly lift weights or participate in group fitness classes.
Visualization of your goals is mental training.
Goals need images and not just numbers.
