What's your number one resolution for 2011? If you answered, "getting more action," you're not only honest, you've come to the right post. Perhaps you're green, single, and hoping to hook up with someone on the same page. Whether you're looking to spice up your current relationship or start something new and steamy, here's how start doing it (and doing it well).

Eco-Sex starts with your relationship to your own body. In order to seduce (and allow yourself to be seduced) it always helps to begin with feeling beautiful. The fastest way to get there? Embrace healthy self-care habits, instead of slathering a poisonous brew of conventional, chemical-laden products on your skin, your biggest organ. The vast majority of personal care items for sale at your local pharmacy are just plain bad for you. What's the point of getting gussied up when you're simultaneously killing yourself with toxins that cause cancer and disrupt your hormones? Join the ecosexual revolution and do it the only way you should -- the green way.

Commandment 1: Your Skin: Going Deeper and Deeper
1 of 10
Choose multi-use, natural oils like argan or coconut oil. A little goes a long way.If you're new to greening your routine, you can easily get caught up in greenwashing schemes. Avoid all that by going to only trusted brands. If you're unsure about anything already in your stash, you can check it out using the Environmental Working Group's truly awesome cosmetic safety database.

People complain about the expense of a lot of green personal care products, and it's a legitimate concern. Until supply and demand dictate that everything we buy is clean, green, non-toxic, and fair trade, the big companies will keep pushing the poison on us. But even if your budget is tight, you can be a lean, green, sexy machine. Start with the all-in-one theory of beauty -- find products that do more than one thing. So many fall prey to using every product in a conventional line: cleanser, toner, moisturizer, eye cream, etc.

I will just ad that birth control of ANY kind, even latex, is greener than no birth control. You wouldn't be able to have enough sex to have a bigger condom footprint than the footprint of another human.

Couldn't have said it better myself! That's one of the first points I make in Eco-Sex, and there is a whole chapter dedicated to the subject at the end of the book. I've also blogged about it, and will continue to. Can't be said enough times -- overpopulation is the environment's biggest enemy. And because we consume more in the West, we can't go blaming the developing world for this anymore.

It seems that anything make of latex should be considered with caution. Latex often proves to NOT be a friendly material, especially to those who are allergic to it. At the very least, it would be best to ask your partner how they react to latex products before assuming safety for use.

Interesting...you may want to consider your own line of products or even a store, Stef. I think their is most definitely a niche for these types of goods.

Offhand, I can think of only three sure-fire ways to "green" one's sex life:

Marry an Irish-person, or,

have sex in the forest, on a bed of leaves, surrounded by ants and poison ivy, or,

have sex in a vat of spinach.

and don't get old and go coco!!
A little old lady was running up and down the halls in a
nursing home. As she walked, she would flip up the hem of
her nightgown and say 'Supersex...' She walked up to
an elderly man in a wheelchair. Flipping her gown at him,
she said, 'Supersex.' He sat silently for a moment or two and finally answered, 'I'll take the soup.'

Glycerin isn't a toxin; it's a food. It's the anchor molecule for fats, and all cells can metabolize it into the sugar glyceraldehyde phosphate. That's why it stimulates yeast infections- the yeast can eat it.

Hi Mythbuster, thanks so much for the comment, but if you read carefully you'll see that I didn't call glycerin a toxin, but did explain that it's a common ingredient in conventional lubes, and something you don't want in or near your nether regions. I used the word "non-toxic" in the following line; but not in reference to glycerin. We're on the same page -- no myths to bust here.
