Who are the voices now calling for additional US troops in Iraq? The same people who originally supported the US invasion of Iraq. They are looking for absolution for their reckless decision to back this wrong-headed preemptive war. Do they expect to clear up their guilt by by spilling more American blood? Do they think that additional forces will stay a situation which has already spun out of control? When you hold a bad poker hand, you fold, as Mayor Dailey told Lyndon Johnson during the Vietnam War. Remember, Mr. Bush, what Oliver Cromwell told the English parliament: "I beseech you, in the bowels of Christ, think it is possible you may be mistaken."
