I blogged in June about client & friend Jeff Castelaz and his wife Jo Ann, who lost their beautiful 6 year old son Pablo to cancer. They had already started the Pablove Foundation, not to help themselves, but to raise awareness and money for other victims of pediatric...

1 Comments | Posted June 29, 2009 | 12:21 AM (EST)

I met my hero a few weeks ago.

Most people, knowing I work in Hollywood recording studios, might ask "Wow, did you meet 'insert famous musician's name here' ?"

While I have indeed met and worked with many famous people, the hero I met was a cute 6 year old...

Traditional Media: Missing the Mormon Ideology/Blackwater Connection to CA Prop 8

Posted October 28, 2008 | 03:03 PM (EST)

The coverage from the LA Times on the CA Prop 8 debate is, well, like a debate. Take this, for example, inexplicably stuck in the Books section:

As of Friday, supporters of Proposition 8 had raised $27.5 million, with about 19% of the money coming from outside California....

When in the course of human events: Read it!

Posted July 4, 2008 | 06:21 PM (EST)

Compared to most politicians today, the guys who wrote this, which started our whole experiment in democracy, were fire-breathing radicals.

Today, it would be a good idea for all Americans to read this. It only takes about 5 minutes, and it contains some revolutionary ideas. Some of you may even...

will.i.am Sings with Barack Obama: "Yes We Can to Justice and Equality"

Posted February 4, 2008 | 11:55 PM (EST)

As I spend a lot of time around musicians and in recording studios, I'm privileged to hear some really great music and performances, as well as some that are not so great. And I've heard people complain that we don't seem to have any good political 'protest songs' today.

Right-wing hypocrisy: Illegal immigration

Posted January 13, 2008 | 10:49 PM (EST)

Illegal immigration is a problem for this country.

There, I've said it. But it's not quite the problem some make it out to be:

According to a New York Times article on April 5, 2005, "...the estimated seven million or so illegal immigrant workers in the United States...

Did a Mainstream Journalist 'Borrow' From a Mere Blogger?

Posted November 4, 2007 | 07:46 PM (EST)

The MSM (MainStream Media) have been late to the dance in recognizing or even considering the effect of blogs on the, well, media. Bloggers, regardless of their experience and credentials, are often derided, and depicted as amateurish and ineffectual, and their acceptance has been slow in coming.

But our friend...

An American Music Treasure Gone: Porter Wagoner, 1927-2007

Posted October 30, 2007 | 04:40 AM (EST)

Country music is often described as "people's music," telling stories about regular folks. Certainly the stereotype of songs about lost loves, favorite dogs and trucks abides, but there is really truth in the thought that it isn't "high-minded" music, but an art form rooted in the triumphs, tragedies, and pathos...

San Bernardino Forest Chief Blames DC; Was Told to Shred Earlier Report on Fire Threat

Posted October 25, 2007 | 08:04 PM (EST)

In what seems to be an oft repeated theme, the Bush Administration again put politics over policy. And that has had an effect on the forests of Southern California.

San Bernardino National Forest Supervisor Gene Zimmerman has harsh words for D.C. regarding preparations for large-scale forest fires, and was...

Finally, someone gets it. Chris Dodd has raised the issue of filibuster against the awful FISA/Telecom Amnesty bill:

Small government has been a mantra of the Right forever. The extremely tarnished Grover Norquist (R-Abramoff) famously said:

"I don't want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub."
