Breaking: Condi Rice Flirts With VP Possibility -- Speaks to Grover Norquist's Wednesday Group Meeting

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is speaking this morning to Grover Norquist's weekly powerhouse gathering at Americans for Tax Reform of conservative associations, think tanks, and political operations.

grover norquist twn.jpg
At the semi-secret gatherings which Republican political hopefuls migrate to to get the blessing of not only Norquist but the diverse parts of the nation's conservative money and political machinery, Norquist gives everyone in the room 3 minutes to pitch their cause or issue. I have attended before, but if one wants to attend again -- no one may write or speak about the internal discussion or who attended.

In this case, however, I am not attending -- but a source other than Norquist has leaked this information to The Washington Note and Huffington Post.

As one major Republican operative told me yesterday:

Someone like Condi Rice doesn't go to Grover Norquist's den to talk about the Annapolis Middle East peace process. She's going to secure her future in Republican politics and to position herself as a 'potential' VP candidate on the McCain ticket.

Grover Norquist is author of the new book, Leave Us Alone: Getting the Government's Hands Off Our Money, Our Guns, Our Lives. It would be interesting to know which pages of the book Condi has dog-eared.

"Condi" on the ticket? Hannity will have an orgasm! Now if they could just find a spot for "Rummy,'" poor Sean won't know what to do with himself.

Condi Rice and Colin Powell were both sucked into the Bush administration black hole and have emerged much smaller and denser for the experience.

...on their on volition...they either had access to the info or just went along...the only two choices...let's not kid ourselves....she is only a bit more capable than a stenographer (maybe)...and colin...shame on him...most of all for NOT speaking out and telling the truth about the administration and iraq immediately after he left office, but ANYTIME since...patriots?...more like traitors....and they BOTH know it....colin most of all.... and he has missed his chance for ANY form of redeption.....and she..shopping for shoes in nyc as new orleans drowned.....where is their morality?....

i can only hope she is on the ticket with "more of the same" mccain....she has ONLY been in this administration because of her loyalty, NOT because of her qualifications....

They may not have entered BushLand as traitors, but they certainly have "flirted" with it since.

I say bring this ticket on. Talk about attaching yourself to Bush. It is bad enough that McCain's new policy views resemble those of Bush. Make it visually obvious that Bush would still be in the White House by having one of his current administration on teh ticket.

I'm not sure he did. I take it as commentary on certain right wing racists and the cognitive disconnect they will have.

If Obama causes their heads to explode, Rice as VP will cause them to explode while simultaneously spooge their pants in anticipation of 4 more years of McBush rule.

This is a liberals dream. A chance to vote for two minoities with just one vote. The thought alone gives me a warm fuzzy.

a black president and a black vice president? I guess you only can trust Whites to vote for you, but not
to be vice president so they can look on your fingers.

The problem is that many think she will get the black vote because she is black. This is, frankly, insulting to black people. African Americans are not voting for Obama because he is black, but because he is great. Otherwise we would have supported Alan Keyes.

Condi is as despised among African Americans as she is among most people in this country... and others. The assumption that this would somehow get the woman vote is just as insulting. Yes, there are a few blacks and a few women that will vote based on race or sex, but if you remember, blacks supported Hillary until more was known about Obama (and about the Clintons).

Please put her on the ticket. I, as a proud Black woman would love the opportunity to vote for not one but TWO Blacks. I've been waiting all my life, just life Bill Clinton, to vote for a Black person...and a WOMAN. My goodness, America is the greatest and I for one am really proud of my country for the first time in my adult life. But which Black shall I vote for? One Black believes the same things I beleive; No Foolish Wars, Lower Taxes for the Middle Class, Stop Shipping Good Jobs out of America, And talking with your enemies, not just in other countries but across the aisle. Then there's another Black who...didn't read the memos about Al Queda learning to fly planes...and not land them! And this other Black thinks Bush is the Bee's Knees. But she is Black and she is a woman...what ever should I do? Vote the way I believe or vote because, well, she is a Black Woman. I'm so confused. NOT!!!!

or, better yet:

McCain/JC Watts

or even better:

Rice/JC Watts

Any of the scenarios will beat Obama/? or an HRC/? ticket...middle America is expereinceing a real eye opener with all of the infighting within the liberal ranks....all the hate, racial divide, gender divide, and not just from the candidates.......thanks Huffsters for allowing the truth to be exposed.

By the way, he admitted to that on "Sixty Minutes" some years ago - claimed it was a loan from oil lobbists - didn't think there was any harm - you mean that JC FREAKING Watts?

Yeah those Democrats were folks like George Wallace and Strom Thurmond... hardly liberals. Face it: Conservatives (regardless of what party they infest) are ALWAYS on the wrong side of social issues. and nearly ALWAYS on the wrong side of economic issues as well. How's that trickle down deregulated free market system doing? Thought so.

Does anybody really think Condi would be floated as a candidate if she wasn't a black woman? (BTW...I am a black man)

I hope the Republican party thinks women/blacks are really that dumb that she would bring in votes regardless of her war crimes and lies. That would truly be a gift, and I predict it would backfire as the disgustingly cynical political stunt it would be.

If she gets picked then Ferraro can really say that line "because she's black". There can be no other purpose for this. Obama has earned his position in the campaign.

Yeah, because a junior senator with a few years experience really stacks up against a SoS and NSA.

I do believe she is well qualified, regardless of gender or race. Her education and accomplishments coming out of Bama are extraordinary. From a strictly political standpoint, she makes sense, similar to a governor, she does not carry the baggage of past voting (versus Senators). I belive that is partially the reason for the past two presidents being elected.

Condi is smart, well educated, deeply into the NFL, and very clever with her career.

But as National Security advisor, she did nothing--and it was her responsibility--to make State and DoD and CIA play nicely. She allowed lie after lie to go to the president. And she told quite a few herself. As Secy of State, she has mostly given up on diplomacy that matters in the Middle East. She has gravely demoralized he Department.

I think she would make a fine boat anchor for the SS McCain. Bring her on!!!!!

The idea of McCain/Rice vs. Obama/Clinton (Clinton/Obama) would make a complete matching set to satisfy any sexist/racist progenitors. The rebubbling of McCain's discussions in 2004 with the Kerry camp for a possible VP spot should make any Norquistian shiver.

This woman is completely incompetent, a yes man (yes, she is a man), and should be impeached. What has she done other than to mess stuff up? Or blindly follow Bush.

Cheney, Bush and Condi are those three monkeys - see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.
