Senator Norm Coleman's (R-MN) office is now closed.
But Senator Roland Burris' office is painted and has his name on the wall. (website still on its way)
Burris will nest at Dirksen Senate Office Building Room 523 -- right across from the Senate Judiciary Committee offices.

Burris should never have legitimized Blago by taking the appointment. A placeholder isn't the end of the world, though. Burris won't be able to win a primary and that's going to give everyone a chance to compete in an election. That's the way to fill a senate seat.
"Truth crushed to earth, shall rise again"
The nature of politics requires the ability to move to the next level. Politicians are good at getting the public emotionally involved in issues. They sometimes leave those on the wrong side of the issue confused, angry, and drained of dignity.
Burris is a U S Senator for the State of Illinois. He will represent the citizens of Illinois.
The Democratic Senate leadership, Illinois Democratic leadership and the media have given Burris a high profile in the Senate. I would think Burris is now better known in the U S and around the world, than most Senators.
Against daunting odds, Burris has developed the aura of "David vs Goliath. There was a strong attempt to deny Burris, but he prevailed.
With the media hype and mis-information campaign against Burris, many did not realize Burriss is an experienced politician. He demonstrated that experience through his tenacity.
These biblical allusions are a bit over the top, no? Even more over the top is your allusion to a misinformation campaign. I followed the story closely, and missed that.
So far as I know, Burris was cast as an also-ran politician who accepted a senate appointment ostensibly more qualified candidates refused on principle. It was also mentioned that he failed to distinguish himself in various state offices, was soundly rebuffed by Illinois voters when he set his sights higher, and may have played his hand in the near execution of an innocent. man. True, true, true, and true.
I'm sure Burris will try his best as a senator, but after Obama, he's the epitome of anti-climax. Let's not lionize the man for playing the weasel with some modicum of poise. If anyone deserves points for political savvy, it's Blagojevich: the clear winner in his pi s sing match with Harry Reid. I'm inclined to ascribe this victory to Harry Reid being daft rather than Blagojevich being deft. It's not exactly Webster, Clay, and Calhoun in the Senate these days.
Sen Burris better start kissing up to the Dem Caucus otherwise he is in for a very long lonely silent treatment. The world's most exclusive club had it's feathers ruffled. I wonder if he will be able to get anything meaningful done in 2 years and which commitees will seat him. He could join Sen. Lieberman for pariah and rouge democrat lunches.
Congrats (finally!) to Senator Burris!!! I'm glad clueless Jesse White and the Dems in DC got their collective acts together and decided not to hold him accountable for the shortcomings of our governor, Rod Blagojevich. Heck - I might even vote for him in 2010 if he's the Dem nominee!
One slug leaves and another enters.... .such is the chain of life in the Senate.
To be fair to Sen Burris we don't know if he will be a slug or not. If he's REALLY good he may even get elected in 2010, but I doubt it....
With all due respect, once Burris decided to collude with Blagojevich, he became a slug (whether he was one before or not).
In a way, I hope that Burris was a slug all his life. It would be horribly tragic if the man had a great deal of integrity for the first 70 years of his life, only to have it all evaporate at this point in time.
If he starts working at it now, and lives to be about 110, he may yet have a chance to establish himself as a man of integrity.
