Jordan's King Says Israel-Hezbollah-Lebanon War "Imminent"

What's Your Reaction:
KingAbdullah.jpg

Congressman Adam Schiff hosted a "Members Only" meeting of the 'Congressional Friends of Jordan Caucus' in the US House of Representatives this morning in the CVC Congressional Meeting Room with Jordan's King Abdullah II.

According to one attendee in the session, "the King's message was sobering."

King Abdullah seemed significantly concerned that conflict was about to break out again between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

One congressional source told me that the word the King used was 'imminent' with regard to the potential outbreak of war.

On many levels, this is extremely worrisome. Hezbollah is now integrated into Lebanon's parliament and interacting with countries like France at all levels of government. An Israeli-Lebanon War could preempt the normalization track the United States is pursuing with Syria.

There are reports today about American concerns of Syrian supply of SCUD missiles to Hezbollah and/or training to Hezbollah personnel on SCUDs.

Tomorrow (Thursday), I will be attending the Syria National Day reception at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington where last year I saw many senior State Department officials, CNN's Wolf Blitzer, and several Congressmen.

Hopefully, America's renewed engagement with Syria will not be knocked off track -- but there is no doubt that King Abdullah's warning to Members of Congress is stirring much concern.

Won't happen ; the presence of UN troops makes the endeavor too complicated.

IMO, the days when countries would accept the Israeli's killing their peacemakers is over. Other than 'the faithful', few believe that Israel's aggression is 'self defence.'

There actually is a Congressional Friends of Jordan Caucus? That's disturbing. Even more disturbing is our attempt to "normalize" relations with Syria, the original two-faced rouge nation. I'm getting tired of our government appeasing jerks just to try to make them our friends. You can't be friends with everyone. Just look at all the folks in your own neighborhood. You're probably not friends with all of them. So why try to be friends with people who are out to destroy you? It makes no sense. Watch what those guys do, not what they say. And listen to what they say in their native language inside their borders as opposed to what they say to us. We might as well normalize relations with Charlie Manson. It would do as much good.

Though it didn't make much in the way of News this week the US protested Syria's shipment of SCUD-D missiles to Hezbollah in Lebanon this week and the act seriously damaged US-Syrian relations.

Jordan is at peace with Israel and they are a US ally in the Middle East.

I agree. I'm especially tired of our government attempting to appease the biggest government of 'jerks' on the planet, the ISRAELI govrernment.

Say what you will about Syria and Hezbollah, at least they don't suck us dry and have a stranglehold on our congress and media.

Somebody, please, prove this man to be in error. I have learned that the more information given with falsehoods to be pretty easy to prove false. So, go ahead at it. Dismissing things out of hand could be dangerous. He is not a teabagger, but someone who claims to have intelligence connections.

In these times, it is very important to not dismiss things off hand without doing your own research. There have been many times in history, such as Iran Contra, the Tuskegee experiments, CIA bedevilment of democracies for corporations as witnessed and accomplice in subversion by John Perkins. We cannot afford to dismiss things offhand when the CIA brags about controlling the media.

CIA director, predecessor to GHWB, William Colby, before they offed him for talking to much when he was asked to testify before congress:

"The Central Intelligence Agency owns everyone of any significance in the major media."

Seriously, he appears to be one of Ron Paul's peeps and they tend to be kind of crazy and antisemitic. The whole thing on that page was a big conspiracy theory about how Netanyahu was behind the Polish Government air crash? The rest is Pauls's loopy stuff about the Federal Reserve.

Paul Peeps are Tea Baggers, they're the original Tea Baggers. I'd pay it no mind their always making crazy stuff up.
10:57 AM on 04/16/2010
You obviously did not read it very well. He only gives about two paragraphs, if that, to the Polish plane crash and says he has suspicions about them. There are two different headlines that could accidentally be read as one. He is definitely not one of Ron Paul's peeps. Crime is crime no matter who does it. I personally agree with Ron Paul's opinions about the Fed. Look up Jeckyl Island to learn about its history. Are the DAs and AGs in Israel antisemitic for hunting down Jewish criminals? Every group commits crimes. This is the race card when it prevents people from looking at real crimes of any group simply because they belong to a certain group. If you look up the word conspiracy, you will see that it is a real crime. What is the difference between conspiracy theory and detective work? Most crimes that don't involve alcohol begin with conspiracies when one or more people plan to commit a crime.

Again, there is so much information, just one proof that he is wrong about any one of the things that he emphatically states as true would lessen his arguments. I wish it very much for it not to be true; however, it does not contradict with many of the things that have been said from some of my more familiar, trusted sources. I find it very concerning that last week he says that Net will be indicted and then there is there is drum beat towards more war. It should be easy enough, so why won't anybody try to disprove anything he says. As a teacher, I know that the longer the story, the easier it is to find things that are incorrect or intentional lies.

Never mind the fact that the American religious right (wrong) will never stop supporting zionists because they "need" Israel to control all of Palestine so the apocalypse can happen.

http://www.apocalypsesoon.org/count.html

Only after this will Israel be able to build the Temple and experience a spiritual awakening, a prelude to her final conversion to the Lord Jesus Christ. Or does anybody in his right mind believes that Israel will be allowed to build the Temple as things stand presently, and with the two Moslem Mosques right in the Temple Wall area? Furthermore, Israel is as worldly and apostate as she can be, with only a small percentage of Jews desperately (and blindly) clinging to their beloved Torah. This situation will reverse itself after the supernatural victory that God will grant Israel over their enemies.

The Temple must be built, because it is fundamental to the Tribulation period. The Antichrist will use it and so, it is obvious that before it can be built there must be a shakedown of the present situation. We know that preparations are being made for the sacrifices, (the "red heifer" news). The sacred vessels and the priest's garments are being readied, as are the the priests who will perform the rites.

So, as we study the End Times prophecies, we must keep our eyes focused upon Israel, God's timepiece.

Actually according to Jewish prophesy the Messiah is suppose to come first and then the Temple is rebuilt. The Messiah is suppose to raise the entire Universe up one level closer to God essentially destroying the Universe and rebuilding it simultaneously and instantly. Needless to say, this is hard to fake.

I won't attempt to explain any of this to you because it's like trying to explain fourth dimensional geometry. However you shouldn't worry, it'll be painless. Just live a good life because what you do now affects you in the next Universe, where you'll be immortal and you'll have always been alive. Which is rather hard to get your head around, but like I said it's rather hard to explain.

Just be good, don't worry, and everything will just take care of itself.

worth reading again. Yes, it is totally scary. It's never just one issue, but a confluence of different and frequently hostile interest ssettling (quite literally) on the same goals: like the West Bank for water and Jewish/Christian holy places. The religious and orthodox Jews, ultra-right settlers and Christian fundamentalists want Jerusalem and the West Bank for their reasons, and pragmatic Israeli politician need their help to veil the water issue, citing insurmountable religious obstacles to giving up this and that. You never hear about water when they complain about the 'three no's" and Palestinian intractability in the peace process
04:32 PM on 04/15/2010
If I have a hateometer, its reading would be off the chart when Isreal, Palestine, US support issues are discussed. Lots of emotions on the this many-sided table. Israeli supporters are hell bent on proving that Israel is right in its actions. Those who sympathize with the Palestinians' plight , and those who oppose US support for Israel do just as much. How about this for a better way to arrive to a solution?

1- Stop relying on religious scripture when trying to solve this problem. The promised land is a concept and does not mean that the deeds were provided by God to this group or the other (Palestinians or Jews)
2- Stop calling the other a terrorist or enemy. Even if you have the military might to oppress the other, think of a future that you can secure for your children who might not be as powerful.
3- Stop linking the problem to other people such as "Arabs should help their fellow people", "The Us should stop support of Israel", etc. These two nations can work it out. They have for 100s of years. Why should one win and the other loses.
4- Because you disagree with someone's opinion, stop demonizing them or making them look like a fool. Peace is based on respect (and the same goes for the comments here)
5- Compromise.
6- Raise your level of consciousness.

Peace will come. The question is how many will be left to enjoy it.

Hizbullah admits receiving Syrian scuds By JPOST STAFF AND ASSOCIATED PRESS 15/04/2010

Hizbullah sources confirmed Thursday that the terror group received a shipment of Scud missiles from Syria, the Kuwaiti paper Al-Rai reported.

According to the report, the missiles were claimed to be old and unusable. Hizbullah also accused Israel of blowing the incident out of proportion in order to provoke a media ruckus.

The sources added, "Our organization has many surface-to-surface missiles spread across all of Lebanon, in case Israel attacks the country again.”

In spite of this confirmation, the Syrian Foreign Ministry denied the reports, saying Israel was trying to stoke tensions in the Middle East and could be setting the stage for a possible Israeli "aggression" to avoid Middle East peace requirements.

Thursday's Syrian statement comes after President Shimon Peres accused Syria of supplying the Lebanese guerrillas with Scuds for the first time.

Israeli defense officials also have said they believe Hizbullah has Scud missiles, and that their introduction could alter the strategic balance with the Islamic guerrilla group.

In an effort to prevent a new conflict, Al-Rai reported Monday that the US State Department summoned the Syrian ambassador in Washington, Imad Mustafa, and warned him that war could break out if the weapons shipments were not stopped.

Well look at what the Iraqis and Afghans have done to America's huge amount of troops and weapon systems. I would think anyone in the world with access to plastics and egg timers would feel pretty confident right now. There's less than a gross of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, and you'd think we were fighting Iran, China, and Russia. A properly run guerilla war is a tough thing to fight, especially off your home turf. I'm sure they would have loss of life both with fighters and civilians, but I don't think they could loose a war at home, not if they've been watching us stumble around the world.

Wars are always exciting for those who does not need to endure it.

Incidentally, what are the latest attacks by Hezbollah against Israel? Did they kidnap yet another soldier or anything?
02:36 PM on 04/15/2010
Israel wants to draw Iran into a skirmish alongside Hezbollah, because they think they'll get a free shot at bombing Natanz and other sites. Even if Natanz is destroyed tha Iranian nuclear program won't be set back, because, Natanz is entirely civilian.

What could happen in this scenario is: (1) closing the Strait of Hormuz, (2) Iranian cut-off of all oil to the West, (3) Resulting in $300/Barrel oil and economic chaos in N. America and Europe (4) a rain of Iranian conventional missiles on Israel, (5) Iranian military taking up positions in Lebanon, (5) Iran foiling U.S. goals in Afghanistan and Shia Iraq, whereas lately they have been co-operative, (6) resulting in the failure of the mission in BOTH countries and the loss of U.S. access to central Asian oil.

Israeli actions can do an awful lot of damage to America's national interest, and have done so in the past. while our own Congress sits and passes exculpatory and congratulatory resolutions on Israel's behalf.

Its different now. Iran has the military power to make strike back effectively. China will support Iran because of Iranian oil supplies and Russia will also ultimately support Iran in any shooting war because it is not in Russia's national interest to see America control the Middle-East.

Remember the story about Samson & the Temple? Masada? Yep, vindictive self-destruction is alive & well in Israel. Obama should put a stop to any Israeli adventurism before it starts.

In order to attack Iran Israel would feel the need to first neutralize any threat coming from Lebanon and take out the new Russian made air defense system currently in Syria so they would have a clear flight path. That new Russian system by the way is spectacular, I doubt if Israel can pull it off at least not without losing a good deal of its air force.

Regardless they would start with Lebanon, and with US troops pulling out of Iraq and the possibility of Iraqi airspace becoming hostile, the clock is ticking if they want to try an attack on Iran.

If Iran follows your advice, they will provide a service to the planet. They will solve the $64.00 question. They will help establish whether Israel has the bomb or not. For if Israel has them they will happily deliver them to Iran.

Of course if Iran is that crazy, it may support the necessity of Israel having the bomb....as well as the wisdom of having the bomb.

To understand the visceral hatred of the Jewish nation, one should review the political landscape between 1917 and 1947 (before Israel declared independence). This is the most overlooked knowledge base available. So much so that many (perhaps the majority of) people (wrongly) believe that the entire controversy started in the 1940's. Read up on Mid East history predating the end of WW2. Read the speeches of the 'Grand Mufiti' el Husseini. Claiming (for example) that the "Zionists would never be satisfied with Palestine alone" (as if he acknowledges that such a modest land claim itself would not be unfair). He goes onto say that the true Zionist desire is complete conquest of the entire Middle East (which would equal 50-times the present land controlled by Israel). This was the only way he could foment enough resentment and fear to spawn attacks on Jewish civilians throughout the Middle East. Of course, calling such assertions "silly" would be a profound insult to silly people. In that respect, not so much has changed in 80+ years gone by. The Jewsih nation still wants what it always wanted: To be left alone to live in peace.

I had a friend who came back from a year in Israel filled with ideas of the collective messianic and the land conquest of ancient biblical lands including much of Syria and Jordan. That messianic cult in Jewish thought isn't exactly dead only wounded by hard reality and being in the minority. The Arabs do know of it however and fear of Israeli expansion is always on their minds and colors their perceptions of Israeli actions. This even though the vast majority of Israelis have no desire for biblical congest or messianic dreams.

The final disposition of the Temple Mount is the lynch pin in all of this. The Arab fears of the destruction of the Mosque and the construction of a new Temple of David wears on the conflict and the Islamic mind.

Your friend was simply indoctrinated by a small minority of Jews who hold those beliefs. Judaism in fact requires every Jew to question everything, including their own faith and the Torah, and most Jews are not part of that small messianic cult.

"The Jewish nation still wants what it always wanted: To be left alone to ethnically cleanse all the land they arrogantly deem "god-given" and fulfill ancient history and myth to displace the indigenous population in favor of (mostly) "Jews only". Your history is at fault and arrant propaganda. Perhaps you and others would care to review the words of many Jewish historians and comments on the history of Israeli/Zionist terrorism, expansionism and methods to evict by any means possible Palestinians from their homes to cleanse the land for the Jewish state. The fears of Pakestinians of Zionist expansionism has been proven to be justified. The brutality against Palestinians of every gender and age has been shown to be based on racism and contempt for their lives and future.

2010 Israel is 8,000 Square miles. 1917 "Palestine" was 42,000 sq-miles. There were ample Jews living in the remaining 34,000-sq-miles (now Jordan). What happened to them? They were "ethnically cleansed". Now, Qur'an 17:104 states: " . . and thereafter We [Allah] said to the children of Israel [Hebrews], dwell securely in the Promised Land . . . " The "promised Land" as it existed in Mohammed's lifetime was all 42,000-sq-miles of "Palestine" + some ancillary land including Syria. So the (alleged) direct descendant of the Islamic Prophet Mohammed, King Hussein, violated the directions of his forbearer, Mohammed. So much for your scriptural lecture. Please also see: http://english.katif.net/index.php?sub=2&id=1824 This explains the LEGAL, SECULAR rights which the Jews have to a homeland. Once again the Bible is a DISTRACTION. I for one do not believe the authors claim that the legal rights include ALL of traditional Palestine. I do believe it includes WB, Gaza and CERTAINLY E. Jerusalem. Have a nice delusion.
03:48 PM on 04/16/2010
Batguano, read "A History of Palestine, 634-1099" and "A History of Israel." Haaretz is not exactly a scholarly, peer-reviewed font of historical facts. I expect that you believe in Yasser Arafat's canard that the Temple of Solomon never existed, but the only way that he could lay claim to Israel was by pretending that the Palestinian Arabs were the ancient Canaanites. It sounds more impressive than when PLO terrorist Walid Shoebat conceded that in 1967, West Bank Arabs cut out the star from the Jordanian flag and renamed themselves "Palestinians."
