rep_gohmert.jpgRep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) needs to read up on some things -- like learn some facts and stuff ... and use those facts to stop illegals from taking land that is not theirs. You know those Israelis are taking land that is not theirs from Palestinians who are stealing land too, just like those nasty Mexican drug thugsters. And we need the entire country to intervene, like the Chilean government did with those miners, because a Mexican drug investigator was killed at Falcon Lake and beheaded and Fox News totally agrees with me, but I say we should cheer on those people stopping Palestinian land grabbers ... and by the way, those gay soldiers just can't stop their raging homosexual hormones. I know it. They can't. Done deal.

For more absurdity from Congressman Gohmert, here is the Fox News clip connecting Chile's miner rescue to law and order problems in his district (from Gohmert's own home page) -- and here is the most absurd statement on Palestinian-Israeli territory disputes ever uttered on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives:

GOHMERT: The only good news I see out of that is that for so long, I've been greatly concerned with the hypocrisy of this administration telling Israel, "Just let Palestinians build illegal settlements and take over areas that are not theirs. Just let 'em take over." And I thought, "How hypocritical for our U.S. administration to tell Israel, 'just let people take over areas of your country they're not authorized to takeover,' cause we would never allow that here in the U.S." Which brings me to the only good thing about violent illegal alien drug smugglers taking over American soil: At least we're not hypocritical anymore when we tell Israel just to let people take over land that's not theirs. Because now this administration can say, "Look, Israel, we're doing it here. We're letting people take over American soil that they shouldn't. So you can do it, too."

And on those raging uncontrollable homosexual hormones that we can't let on the battlefield, have some fun.

It would be lovely to hear Fox News chat with Representative Gohmert in a serious way about any technical issue within his portfolio as a Member of the House Judiciary Committee.

From Gohmert's website, the role and function of this committee is defined well:

The Committee on the Judiciary has been called the lawyer for the House of Representatives because of its jurisdiction over matters relating to the administration of justice in Federal courts, administrative bodies, and law enforcement agencies. The Committee has oversight responsibility for the Department of Justice and Homeland Security, civil and criminal judicial proceedings and Federal courts and judges, issues relating to bankruptcy, espionage, terrorism, the protection of civil liberties, constitutional amendments, immigration and naturalization, interstate compacts, claims against the United States, national penitentiaries, Presidential succession, antitrust law, revision and codification of the statutes of the United States, state and territorial boundary lines and patents, copyrights and trademarks.

Given his backwards statements on Palestinian land issues and gays in the military, one wonders how much of the above he may get backwards as well.

Horribly ashamed. The conservative ignoramuses have so screwed up this great state that I hardly even recognize it anymore. Gohmert is a great example of the kind of dumbassery we have to put up with here. I know many good libs who fight the good fight, but it feels like we're playing Crockett and Bowie to their Santa Anna.

I lived with Santorum for a while. There was another nightmare. My condolences. Hey, with internet communications you know you are not alone. Now, I wonder what the Gohmerts and Santorums can do to screw this up?

Texas, the state that gave us Gohmert and George W. Bush and Rick Perry. Oh, please do secede.

May I add Georgia? If I ever had to fly, again, as the crow I would not do it. I would drive 1,000 miles around Georgia to avoid. I don't even think I'd want to fly over that state.

This ignorant goober actually said, "Some people say, “Where is homosexuality in violation of the Ten Commandments?†Well it’s adultery, it’s sexual relations outside of marriage, a man and a woman... specifically for the military, when anyone, whether their homosexual or heterosexual, cannot control their hormones to the point that they are distraction[s] to the good order and discipline of the military, then they need to be removed from the military."

Where does one begin with such incredible stupidity? Simply being attracted to someone of the same sex is the same thing as being legally married to someone and cheating on them, according to Rep. Goober? The comparison is so ludicrous, there isn't anything more to say about it. -- I would like to ask him where are all these gays that can't control their hormones in the military? Are they having sex in front of heterosexuals while they're working? Because there are tens-of-thousands of gay personnel all doing their jobs right now (while having to pretend to be straight) and they all seem to be able to control their deviant homosexual hormones. Shocking!
06:19 PM on 11/17/2010
Conservatives purposefully build a catch 22 into any discussion of gays. Gay sex is adultery, or at least fornication, since it's outside marriage. Then thye deny gays the right to marry. Truly evil.

We do not live in a democracy, for that matter we never did live in a democracy. This country when it was established over two hundred years ago was intended to be a democracy but somehow along the way someone pulled a scam on the public and told us that we will have a representational government. In no manner shape or form do we even have a representational government. What we have are a bunch of politicians that are only interested in speaking to the public that they are supposed to serve when and only when they are running for office. But not really even then. They tell you they care and that you should vote for them so they can get things done that are of issue to you. This can be no further from the truth. In the back of these "people's" (very loose term) minds (again loose term used), they are thinking okay I think I convinced another sucker to give me the job. Then when they get in they have no interest in knowing you. They are only interested in getting things done that they want or things that help line their pockets. Whether they are a senator, congressman, assemblyman, attorney general, judge, president, councilman or any other elected or even appointed position they are only interested in themselves. I will say though that there are the extremely rare occassions that opposite exisits. What these government employees fail to remember is that they work for us.

"This country when it was established over two hundred years ago was intended to be a democracy but somehow along the way someone pulled a scam on the public and told us that we will have a representational government."

If you consider intensive public discussion regarding the pros and cons of a representative democracy versus a direct demcracy (Federalist 10 and 51, for example) to be a 'scam,' there's not really much I can say.

That people choose to vote for representatives that do not adequately represent the interests of their constiuency is a problem, but it does not change the fundamental, representative nature of the Federal Government of the United States of America.

Just because the end resuklt sucked, does not men the process by which you get there is flawed. ANyway, our form of government is technically a Democratic Republic.

When a society no longer cares about critical and rational thought, when facts are treated as opinion and when a society has a news media that is a subsidiary of the entertainment industry...then numbskulls like Gohmert are elected and placed in positions of power. Make no mistake about all this posturing about Israel, gays in the military, The Drug War, etc. There is only one object: to create a permanent underclass in America...a fragmented, impoverished rabble serving the new Robber Baron Class.

It's not a lie, it's strategy, so accuracy and honesty aren't factors... nationalism means putting country first, and the congressman has chosen which country to put first.
Too bad it isn't America.

Until the Texans who re-elect him connect Gohmert's doings with their own sense of shame for having him represent them in Congress-- after all, he's one of them, stupidity and hysteria and all, expect to see plenty more of the man pontificating and braying about things he cannot comprehend, which is just about everything.

The tipping-over-of-Guam is a good comparison. Let's set aside policy, and agree that we have elected officials on both sides of the aisle who are flat out incompetent. Especially in the House, where a sponge can get elected with the right party affiliation in the right place. Partisans on both sides will defend opinions the other side finds untenable, but they really need to stop defending ignorance. Ignorance can only be combated by cultivation of the opposite qualities (to paraphrase Lord Acton).

Gohmert goes on the floor of Congress (along with Dan Burton) and parrots Dr. Beckistan:

Apparently nothing is out of bounds to say on the floor of Congress anymore. Perhaps it should be renamed the Fox Party instead of the Republican Party.

don't forget the whole "Terror babies" plot that him and that Texas state GOP lawmaker, Riddles/Fiddles??? were pushing on Anderson Cooper with no evidence, no sources named, just their "word" that htis is true. then both of them get upset and accused Cooper of harassing them, instead of answering his very valid question---which after WMD's lies was very neccessary--- "where's your evidence?"

Gohmert is certainly one our very special politicians. Off-topic but I wanted to comment on your moniker. In order to have a multiparty system really work in the US, which I certainly would support, we would need to get rid of the whole winner-take-all electoral college process and just elect our presidents directly by popular vote. The need to achieve 270 electoral votes means that third or fourth party candidates usually get no electoral votes and can only play spoiler for one of the main party candidates.

The problem or blessing behind getting rid of the Electoral System would give inordinate on area that have Large Populations....

One could win an election simply by focusing on Large Metropolitan Areas Only....

States like Alaska, Rhode Island, Wyoming would be completely ignored.

I know what you mean. As a resident of Dallas, I keep feeling the need to apologize to everyone for people like Gohmert.

I used to have to travel to Tyler a couple of times a month. Everyone there seemed so nice. Of course, I never really got to know them very well. Who knew that something like Louis Gohmert was lurking under the surface of those sweet smiles?

Last summer I met a genuine cowboy from Texas here in Wisconsin. Tall, handsome, not well educated but intelligent and a notable gentleman (with a delightful accent). He was from Amarillo and has returned since, but he told me that Tyler is among the most ignorant, red neck cities in Texas. Gohmert would be no surprise to him.
