So, before we forget, let's focus again on the fact that the President of the United States went before the American people in the wake of Katrina and lied in their faces about whether he had been warned of the impending disaster. It's on videotape, both the warnings and the lie less than a week later. In between, of course, the Prez ate birthday cake with John McCain and took a guitar lesson on-stage. Maybe this sums the whole thing up--"Heckuva job, Brownie" was more on top of things than our Fearless Leader.
Seems like this all should still be running in a continuous loop on the news. Seems like the Dems on Capitol Hill should be showing as much outrage as they just showed on the ports of Dubai. Seems like the newspapers of America should be asking why the Republican House & Senate are not investigating the Katrina mess.
Seems like some pollster should start asking some impeachment questions...
There's a Katrina March this Tuesday, in Washington, D.C. (details here). Reverend Lennox Yearwood of the Hip-Hop Caucus called for the march when he realized that thousands of Katrina victims face eviction on March 15th, teachers are being let go from their jobs, and an unfair election is being held while former residents are scattered all across the country.
Rev. Yearwood recently made the news when he stood up and challenged Homeland Security Chief Chertoff at a public hearing (challenging the head of Homeland Security--now that takes guts!). When asked why he had done so, he replied, "I just couldn't take the lies any more."
With all the fervor and zeal this old secular agnostic can muster, I can only say "Amen."
