"Stupid" Questions about Iraq

Why is it that the MSM didn't seem to notice that a recent conference of Iraqis from across the spectrum asked us to go away (e.g., here and here)?
Why is it that the only people ever quoted about what to do next in Iraq policy in the MSM are the ones who got it wrong in the first place?
Why is it that George W. gets to cherry-pick not only the intelligence, but his rhetorical opponents?
(that's why he uses the phrase "some Democrats"...because most of the world knew he was out of his mind and misleading the public long before the war started...)
Why is it so hard for the MSM to point out that the Bush plan, such as it is ("we'll stand down when the Iraqis stand up") means that American troops will be in Iraq for years to come, at permanent bases?
Why do Bush/Cheney not have to apologize for taking the most powerful nation in the history of the world to war against an essentially dis-armed country?
What makes the theory of "pre-emptive strikes" morally different from Pearl Harbor?
