In an interview to be aired tonight on CNN, GOP nominee John McCain says:

"Homeowners are the innocent bystanders in a drive-by shooting by Wall Street and Washington,"

I am appalled by his continued use of incendiary language in the final weeks of the campaign that will only serve to harm any chance of recovery. Equating the meltdown to a form of killing that has destroyed sections of our cities is deplorable and he should be called on it.

One could argue that he is drawing another racial inference because the voters from whom he seeks support are more likely to associate these types of crimes to African-Americans and, as such, to Senator Obama. It is can be construed as more "code" language.

Senator McCain and his advocates have used the following language in recent days:

Socialist
Communist
Un-American
Anti-American
Drive-By Shooting

Is this the Straight Talk Express or a train barreling out of control towards disaster? It is easy to see why he does not favor diplomatic missions to discuss international problems.
