IT'S SUNDAY...WHERE'S SARAH?

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

The Lords of Loud are at the ready. Rush, Sean, BillO, Glenn, et al. They will be front and center to answer all the questions you have about Sarah Palin and they will explain in no uncertain detail (i.e. RNC talking points) how she has all the knowhow necessary to do a wiz-bang job of handling the vice-presidency. And for that, I thank them. Because if they didn't, who would? Certainly not Sarah.

The RNC has gone into full Suppress-Sarah mode. No Sunday morning talk shows. No print interview with Time magazine. No talk to anyone who has an opportunity for a credible followup, like, "Governor, I know you're the one wearing lipstick, but that doesn't answer the question I asked."

That's right. The woman who would be Cheney-redux; the woman who is should be ready on day one to handle the second most powerful job on the planet and- just in case - prepared to take the over reigns from her boss, is not ready yet to answer questions from Tom Brokaw. The lady has better things to do.

Then again, why do we need to ask her anything? She's already told you what Bush's speechwriter wrote she should tell you. And she was able to get it all out in a little over 30 minutes. And from that we now know what we need to know about her readiness. Right?

Now, that Obama guy. He's been on the stump for about a year and a half. Been interviewed umpteen hundred times. Whillikers, he's sat down with Bill O'Reilly. What I want to know is, why is he hiding from us? When will we find out who he is?

So, what's the difference?

Sarah Palin - 30 minutes and one speech.

Barack Obama - 18 months and searing media vetting.

Hmm.

Could it be that he's a guy and she's a gal?

Nah. Didn't keep them from pummeling Hillary.

Could it be that he was born outside the continental U.S. 48?

Nope. So was Sarah.

Hey. Wait a minute. I don't know if you noticed, but Sarah's white and Barack is (s/b whispered) black.

I wonder... Nah, there's no racism to speak of in the country today. Is there?

Well, thank God for that.

At least we'll get to hear her answer questions during the Vice Presidential debate. I mean, if they'll let Sarah participate. I'm sure they will. After all, we already know she's got the dealing with the feriners formula down pat:

Alaska + Proximity to Russia = Foreign Policy Chops.

And, while McCain nor Palin mentioned the issues in their speeches, Sarah certainly knows how to deal with education, job loss and healthcare.

And if you didn't see this yet, Friday I visited Neshaminy Maple Point Middle School in Langhorne, PA, where Senator Joe Biden explained to the packed crowd what the McCain/Palin ticket seems to think that the American people don't care about...

SEE THE RIP-ROARIN VIDEO HERE. But sh-h-h. Not a word of this to Sarah's handlers.

This is just getting to be fun.

rubyjewel, most moderates, do not believe in "compulorsy" pregnancy for anyone. We do believe that the decision should be made before the deed, abortion should not be an on demand way for correcting an oops. There should be exceptions.
Evolution is a theory not an absolute, so why shouldn't creationism also be taught as a theory.
Everyone including Sarah knows that drilling is not the total answer, but we do need to drill to keep our dependence as low as possible, while we are developing alternative ways of filling our increasing energy needs.
Research before you talk, Sarah writes her own speaches.
If you actually think that one term as a state senator and a shorter time as a national senator is anything but a slim resume, you need to stop and think. Why are you comparing Obama to Sarah anyway, he is running for President not VP. If you compare Biden and Sarah, then you might have a legitimate comparison.
There are so many "gun laws" on the books now, enforce the ones we have. There is a piece of paper that was written quite a few years ago, it is called the Constitution. This document has what is called a Second Amendment, among others, this particular one protects my right to bear arms. Tell me which one protects your right to an on demand abortion-----never mind, that right is not given to you or anyone! OOOPS, I forgot, the court decided to give rights that don't exist!

The vice president has assumed the presidency twice during my lifetime -- Kennedy's assassination and the resignation of Richard Nixon. Because John McCain is the oldest potential presidential candidate and has a history of cancer, it's certainly reasonable to expect he would choose a competent running mate.

Sarah Palin's speech to accept the nomination was written by a George W. Bush speechwriter named Matthew Scully.

It is nice of you to offer up Sarah Palin's stance on the issues. I think this blog is about why she doesn't do it herself nor address questions of foreign policy whatsoever.

Hold on... Let's be fair.... The first week-end after Biden was nominated, he also did NOT make the Sunday Morning TV Tour....

BUT.... Supposedly these two (NcCant and the Beauty Queen) are MAVERICKS... you would think that with that attitude, they would have broken with tradition, and put her face out there for everyone to see....

Thruth is that she has no substance.. everyone know that once she gets out there on her own, the baracudas will eat her up...

The VP debate should be delicious...

She's a tough cookie. Don't be sexist. But when all the boys show up on the Sunday shows, she's absent. Either you want to be treated equally or you don't. She should have been on the Sunday shows last Sunday. But she wasn't ready then either.

She'll do fine in her interviews. I did fine on my college exams. Like me, she obviously knows how to cram. It doesn't mean she's ready to be second in line to the Presidency.

Palin is a coward. John McCain is even more of a coward for allowing his campaign to be hijacked by the Christianist Fundamentalists. So Sarah goes out and screeches bully insults, and then hides. Shame on McCain.

Sarah Palin is the political equivalent of the sports fan whose favorite team is the one who just claimed the title. She is incapable of understanding the plight of a Cubs fan because she's too busy buying Red Sox merchandise. Nobody will take Sarah seriously until she reaches into her closet and pulls out that Cubs jersey...

The Palin Effect is to rally conservatives for the Republicans, this is true. But I think it will also pay off for the Democrats as the liberals and the independents will not allow her conservative values to go unchecked and will vote for Democrats.

The defining moment for Sarah Palin was not her canned convention speech. The mere fact that the McCain campaign is afraid to let her out in public defines her as a rube, or worse, demonstrably dangerous to the country.

And to the trolls who are accusing the left of being afraid of her, no not her, afraid of the Republicans blind obedience in swooning over her extremism. Afraid of an Iranian style theocracy being forced on the country by the political whim of John McCain.

Caribou Barbie has been cast as a candidate for independent voters. Based on what little we know she is anything but moderate. She supports compulsory pregnancy for all women regardless of age, health or circumstances, including pregnancy resulting from rape or incest. She believes "creationism" is science and should be taught in public schools. She supports assault rifles for everyone and opposes gun safety laws. She believes the US invasion and continued occupation of Iraq is inspired by God. She supports and encourages continued dependance on antiquated fossil fuel ideology and denies human contributions to global warming. Face the press and answer questions. What is the "hockey mommy" afraid of?

It is no surprise she was able to read the speech written for Romney, Lieberman or whoever. She trained to be a sportscaster. Why wouldn't she be comfortable reading a teleprompter?

I am looking forward to reviewing her income tax returns for the past 10 years. Or will she, like Cindy McCain, refuse to release her tax returns ? What are they hiding?

What was she doing from 2004 when she resigned from the Alaska Oil & Natural Gas commission until January 2007 when she was sworn in as governor? When do we get to question her about this lengthy gap in her rather thin resume?

The only way for the Republicans to control the narrative regarding this laugh-out-loud, preposterous VP candidate is to control access to the press and keep their lipstick wearing pitbull on a tight leash.

Steve, a little correction: Sara Palin (aka Daidy Duke) was born in the continental US, Idaho.
Although I consider myself a rabid Obama supporter I do like to see accuracy in the press.
Thanks

In the election cycle that was supposed to be a "cakewalk" for the Dems, it's astonishing to see how desperate and frightened they have become-- all because a 118-pound pretty gal with something to say stands up against them and says it!

Obama, you better trundle out Hillary NOW!!

(hehe)

I'm really interested in who's been predicting a "cakewalk" for Obama. nothing I've read on the Democratic side indicated that. mostly I read from Repubs that Obama "should be" so many points ahead. just curious, because if the opposition doesn't do what you predict it should, how that somehow is a mark against the opposition. I'd say it's more a failure of your ability to prognosticate.

I can't understand the lack of outrage and disgust from the public or the press about the hiding of Sarah Palin under the critical circumstances surrounding this election---oldest ever presidential candidate, in ill health, and of questionable temperament, with a high chance of being replaced by the least qualified, most radical vice presidential candidate in U.S. history. Obama has proven himself to be a quick study, able to think and talk at the same time, and make sound, rational judgments. (Iraq, Biden) . His wrote his own speech on race, which Peggy Noonan called "a speech to think to, not clap to". He makes his arguments in a forceful, but respectful manner. Because he truly sees us as one America, not "theirs" and "ours". By anyone's measure he has run one of the most remarkable campaigns against deeply formidable odds that this country has ever seen. can leave them
Please, anyone who can get near John McCain, do us a favor and lead this chant to represent all of us with less than two months to go before it's too late for the country to "get to know" this potential vice president, or God forbid, president. Shame on Country Last McCain for this reckless choice, and double shame on him for trying to hide the result. Speak up, voters, now!

Johnny, Johnny, strong and able,
let your pitt bull talk to cable.

If she's scared, that's okay,
We hear they love her in AK.

i think it is funny to see the liberals wriggle in frustration.....that the republicans actually like her.....and the scandals aren't scandals. I have heard nothing bad about her that counts for anything......

You don't think using your office to enact political retribution is a scandal? You don't think her lying about her position on The Bridge to Nowhere AND keeping the money for it anyway is a scandal? You don't think her lying about selling the jet on E-bay when in reality she sold it to a political crony at a loss to the state is a scandal? You don't think her leaving the town of Wasilla, population 5000 at the time of her term, 20 million dollars in debt is a scandal?

Of course you don't....because you 'like' her so she can do whatever she wants. Just like Dubya.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:39 AM on 09/07/2008

Also, despite lowering property taxes, she raised the sales tax, leaving residents of Wasilla a higher tax burden than before...she hired a Washington lobbyiest as mayor and obtained millions in federal earmarks for the town...$26 million in earmarks her last four years as mayor...under her leadership, the state of Alaska has requested 31 earmarks worth $197.8 million in next year’s federal budget, according to the website of Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), the former chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee...McCain himself earlier opposed some of the requested earmarks.

Palin will not give ANY press interviews yet as VP candidate.

Is this the type of leader fiscally conservative Republicans want?

Nobody is afraid of Palin. Please, she is such a lightweight. How pathetic it is that she'll be the only on a ticket that can't go on the talk shows this Sunday. Gee I wonder why that is? Duh.

It's quite obvious Palin and McCain are scared sh*tless to let her to go on television and make an ass of herself because she knows nothing about foreign policy. She has to take the Lieberman Crash Course in Neoconism before she can answer any questions.

It doesn't take much intellect to sit there and assume the vice presidential nominee for your party is an okay individual. How dumbed down are you? You don't care honestly how this person thinks? Whether they can speak intelligently about foreign policy issues? Whether they even have an opinion about them? Lots of books must have been banned in your library.

McPittBullS--- may be a self proclaimed attack dog but where the press is concerned, she's nothing but a scaredy cat. My guess she's spending her Sunday being tutored on world affairs. My guess she still hasn't quite grasped the concept that Georgia isn't just a peach state.
