Just the Facts I'm Interested In, Ma'am!

President George W. Bush, September 30, 2003:

"Listen, I know of nobody -- I don't know of anybody in my administration who leaked classified information. If somebody did leak classified information, I'd like to know it, and we'll take the appropriate action."
-----------

President George W. Bush, July 18, 2005:

"I don't know all the facts; I want to know all the facts...If someone committed a crime, they will no longer work in my administration."

How to best sum up these two statements?

Maybe that the facts President Bush is interested in today are not the same facts President Bush was interested in on September 30, 2003.

Or perhaps, what today's statement really does is answer the question: What did President Bush mean by 'appropriate action' when he said "...we'll take the appropriate action" on September 30, 2003?

That's it! We already know our President doesn't like it when people attack his friends (like Attorney General Alberto Gonzales). So ... the President known for fixing intelligence to fit the policy is now fixing the ethical standards for who gets to work in the White House to fit the desire to defend his friends.

Gee, Mr. President. Aren't the employees of the CIA your friends?

For the future of our country, I just hope that the American people are only interested in one fact...

...the answer to this question:

Whose side is President George W. Bush on?
