Steven Nereo has spent a number of years writing everything from true crime to scripts for beauty shows. He currently focuses most of that energy answering advice while randomly observing life for his site, Single Ape. (http://www.singleape.com) When not typing, his Los Angeles days are filled with walking dogs, riding bikes, playing in the ocean or taking pictures. He currently has two books titled Single Ape and Single Ape 2, and is just finishing up the third, (creatively titled), Single Ape 3. Each contain a year's worth of questions and their answers. As much as he appreciates the books for the time and energy they require to compile, Steven’s proudest moment would have to be the time he sold a cashew on Ebay for $150.

Instagram: The Now-Written Rules

2 Comments | Posted February 3, 2012 | 2/3/12

Let's just face facts; Instagram rules. With all this talk of IPOs, Twitters, G-plusses and Pinterests -- whatever that is, sounds like a scrapbooking store in suburban New Hampshire -- the silent and underestimated killer is Instagram. Just show me a picture, that's all. Nothing more, nothing less. The perfect...

The People Have Lost the Power

Posted October 27, 2011 | 10/27/11

This fall I was in desperate need of a new cell phone because my 2-year-old device was on its last legs. I decided to get an iPhone, but never got around to pre-ordering. Instead I figured I'd wait until the lines died, which they eventually did, leaving me to roll...

The Silent Crisis

Posted October 22, 2011 | 10/22/11

With the decline in availability of natural resources, there is no question that the world is reaching a tipping point. Google+ Is Not Punk Rock

Posted August 16, 2011 | 8/16/11

Anyone who follows anything to do with the news has heard about Google+. You might even be -- like me -- someone who has friends jumping ship and trying to get you to come along. Like me, you might be balking. Not because there is anything wrong with Google+ necessarily,...

Amy, Norway, And a Bag of Empathy Chips

Posted July 27, 2011 | 7/27/11

It's been an interesting -- if not completely depressing -- news week so far, with corresponding reactions that have me thinking a lot about the way we all ration out empathy. With the tragedy in Norway, and the soon-following death of Amy Winehouse, it's become more apparent how we all...

Google Nonplussed

I'm tired, and my eyes hurt. I miss the old days, and by "old" I mean the '90s. I remember going to a talk at the University of Washington about how to use the Internet, except this was before the World Wide Web as we know it, so the talk...

Pro-Gay/Anti-TOMS™

I've complained about Toms before, or at least dudes in Toms. I'm not going to lie here, girls sometimes look good in them. But recently someone brought this link to my attention about the founder of Toms speaking at a Focus on the Family event. If...

Sonicsgate, Kingsgate, and Why I'm Over the NBA

Posted May 10, 2011 | 5/10/11

I have to admit, I've always been team confused. Growing up in New Jersey, I felt like I should root for the Nets, but they totally sucked, so it was a bit like being a Clippers fan. The goto after that was the Knicks, but when from Jersey, they never...

Living A Good Life

There is no god. Well, not for me at least. I don't even have a slight tinge in my bones that one exists. I'm all science. I believe we came from dust and will end as dust in a long scientific cycle whose purpose and complete details we don't posses...

If You Know What a Hipster Is... You Are One

Posted March 23, 2011 | 3/23/11

Do you remember electroclash? I do. I worked at a club doing sound when it was big, and my easiest night was electroclash night. I mostly just had to turn the speakers on and make sure the DJ's CD decks were working. Of course I would get bored sitting at...
