Foxy Lady!

What's Your Reaction:

According to what Sarah Palin is trumpeting (well, bleating would be more melodically accurate) on her and John McCain's "Tuesdays with Morrie Express" tour, America is alternately at the threshold of Armageddon, under assault by armies of illegals or crushed beneath a commie/socialist/fascist jackboot.

What a busy beaver she is! And energized by her enabler, the redoubtable psychorporation Fox News, Sarah is spreading her gospel of Dread and Taxes live and in person while the cadre of Aryan wet-dream anchors at Fox track her every move.

If anything puts the lie to her and Fox's supposedly Christian-based conservative principles it is their decidedly un-Christian approach to Anyone Who Doesn't Agree With Them; their star Sarah is the coquettish conduit by which hegemonic kinescope-daydreams of old men with hair growing out of their ears stream into the tweaked nervous systems of the Right's comfortably parochial demographic and wreak havoc upon the rest of the world who humbly strain for enlightenment.

But hysterical hyperbole (discounting this, of course) is in direct proportion to fear of losing relevance and the Right is trying like hell to matter.

The US is just not a white, hetero, 50's fantasy (was it ever, really?). But just try and tell that to the desperately white, frantically hetero Tea Baggers who have had their sacks steeping in Sarah's brain-free broth for so long that they'd hang you in effigy, put you in the stocks and otherwise excommunicate you from the brotherhood of besotted baggery.

The ease with which Fox/Sarah has been able to concoct worlds which suit their scenarios as opposed to dealing with certifiable, empirically proven realities puts James Cameron to shame. If anyone knows how to manufacture reality, Roger Ailes does.

Though arguably effective merely in terms of TV-Q, Fox (and by extension the GOP), has brought the tone of political and social discourse so low it would take a miracle, a resurrection of biblical proportions to restore it to anything approaching reasonableness (*cough*Operation:Northwoods*cough*)

The irony of it all is that most aspersions cast from Fox/Sarah towards any of their enemies has always applied to them and the tighty righties themselves. That's the madness in humanity's design: looking ever outward when it should be looking inward.

And that unholy two of Fox and Sarah has tapped into the kooky counter culture the way the Good Humor man made any kid automatically badger his or her parents for ice cream money, only the construction and execution of Sarah's message is slightly less complex than the jingling of bells.

You could say that the country is under the spell of one Foxy Lady!

Steven, a small correction to your fine piece. Per David Frum the Republicans are an extension of Fox News. They are the opening act for the Fox Follies of Fascist Fantasy. The circle has been closed. It has become blatantly obvious that the Republicans are a front for plutocrats like Rupert Murdoch. Welcome to the ash can of history.

Every village has their village idiot, & Wasilla is no exception. That Sarah Palin has now moved to a National Village spotlight does not change things; she still arrives at her TeaBagger parties in logic's short bus, pandering to the phobias & loathings of our ignorant & hateful as she dimples & gotchas for the camera. Did the Hitler Youth begin any differently?

S-,
After watching ten-mintues of FOX over Spring Break @Stuart, Fla, decided I would go out and fish in a thunderstorm. The company was more hopeful and in better humor (the dead squid baits).....
Fox really has few no viewers, they have a big audience, but no veiwers. I am surprised they can still sell anything but paraniod gold-bug advertisements from G. Gordon Liddy. Surely, big pharma and cancer-research folks will abandon them soon. More money in the health premium mix means more profits for everyone in these industries. Duh?. Yet these guys still buy ads on FOX NEWS hmmmmm... just can't my head around that one. Why would they sponsor NASCAR that runs on FOX.
OHHH I know now, they got that Stewie Griffin kid on Sundays.

Steven, let's look at your column one paragraph at a time.
Paragraph 1: Sarah Palin believes the left is bringing disaster to the USA.
Paragraph 2: She is supported by the FOX Network.
Paragraph 3: The right (old men) are using Sarah to push ther non-christian agenda while the rest of the world humbly looks for enlightenment.
Paragraph 4: The right is trying (after the rise of Obamamania) to matter again.
Paragraph 5: The right consists of old, white male homophobes without the ability to think for themselves.
Paragraph 6: The right lives in a fantasy world, unable to face reality and facts.
Paragraph 7: The right are responsible for the un-intellectual discourse in politics.
Paragraph 8: The right says about the left what should be said about the right.
Paragraph 8: The right is a kooky counterculture who's pavlov bell is rung by Sarah Palin and FOX
Paragraph 9: Yes, Sarah is Foxy.
Steven, your simplistic view of the right is as dangerous as Palins simplistic view of the left. Once you break down your article, it is nothing more than some quick jabs of mud-slinging. Your article doesn't really say anything. It's like a thesaurus tantrum. You are a bright man with an ''Olbermann sized'' vocabulary. I would love to see you use it to actually discuss the issues, not put down the right with cute sayings. You're smarter than that. And until you do, you will be the one who won't matter.

Hey KHAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNN!
If that IS your real name!
Steven Weber is a great actor. Studio 60 was some of his best work.
As far as being a WISE-A$$, that's not really anything to be proud of.

And thanks for noticing my tight a$$. I've been working out.

"The Right" doesn't need Weber to put them down or point out the idiocy of their arguments - they do just fine for themselves.

Steven just eloquently and amusingly calls them out.

"...Tea Baggers who have had their sacks steeping in Sarah's brain-free broth..."

I love that.

The Baggers would save themselves a lot of grief - not to mention money spent on blood pressure medications - if they'd accept that the world is not going to stop progressing, no matter how loudly you yell at it.
12:36 PM on 03/30/2010
Silly Sarah in her speech before the TBaggers often shouts out about "freedom" with the purpose of conveying that somehow this is being denied to the TBaggers by the Obama admin. But what they really mean, and they have even coined a new word for it, is that TBaggers want to be free to be dumb. Hence the new word "freedumb" pronounced similar to the word "freedom."

You forgot Xenu. The Galactic Overlord will not be pleased, SP(suppressive person).
11:10 AM on 03/30/2010
There was a time, not that long ago, where conservatives routlinely critiziced the left for being too emotional, whereas they claimed to be far more logical about their approach to life and politics. Since hypocrisy is par for the course for the right, it's no suprirse that emotion, not logic, is the primary motivator for the tea baggers and the far right. This is important since emotion completely shuts out logic, facts and reason with Palin's audience who feels she can say nor do any wrong about anything.

This in and of itself becomes increasingly important since Palin has adroitly tapped into the seething anger and rage of the baggers and the far right, who feel that they, and only they, are entitled to what America once had to offer and are obssessed with taking "their" country back and want nothing less than to transform America into a fundamentalist theocracy where only people who look, think and pray like them have any rights whatsoever. None of them, nor FOX give a damn about the long-term damage such aspirations will cause to the rest of the country, since they will NEVER accept that America does not exclusively belong to white Christians only.

Funny how you complain about the right having 'brought the tone of political and social discourse so low', yet it was Harry Reid's supporters who threw eggs at the Tea Party busses and one who exclaimed that he'd be 'going to jail today' if a right-leaning media person didn't leave the area.... then we have Code Pink who disrupted - once again - a book signing by Rove.... you have violence and aggression at Tea Parties caused by: the left / unions. And now we have a liberal arrested for threatening and planning a US Senator's demise.

But you're right... the left is MUCH more sophisticated

Sarcasm does not come through in these posts, so I thank you for delineating several false equivalents, and then, probably having realized your equivalents were anything but, resigned yourself to the fact that the left is MUCH more sophisticated.

I am sure it was the fact that loonies will always act like loonies, but nobody on the left in a position of governmental authority has condoned the loonies' actions...as opposed to the right. I am sure that fact is what swayed you to the left on this issue.

Kudos to you for weighing the evidence and agreeing with Steven!!

That "liberal" who threatened US Senator Eric Cantor is a rabid anti-Semite (Cantor is Jewish) who has made more threats to Obama and Pelosi. Textbook liberal, no?

The irony of the Christian right who tend to follow Fox and Palin also tend to believe in Rapture theology (except for the Catholics that follow these people, which I don't get) and are the ones that are being "left behind" as America moves forward.

Maybe we are being "raptured" (a theology I don't personally espouse, to be honest) and the joke is really on them as to who is being "left behind."

This isn't about rapture; it's about a bunch of thugs tyring to rupture this country and it's constitution. There's no irony about that and no question about it either.
