Take care of old people.

Take care of sick people.

Help those find work who cannot find it themselves.

Invest in education.

Encourage humility.

Fix roads, homes, pipes, wires and tracks that are in need of repair.

Regulate industries that pollute the environment.

Find alternative energy sources.

Invest more in education.

Encourage thrift.

Invest even more in education.

To hell with "social issues". Any schmuck wants to marry a dog, let 'em. They'll breed each other out of their respective species anyway or at the very least spawn a race of human/canine hybrids who can lick themselves, resulting in the unforeseen repercussion of a drastic reduction in aggression.

Encourage people to serve in their communities, armed forces, charities, Peace Corps, whatever. Not mandatory but at least make it an attractive option to texting "ROTFLMAO".

Invest even more in education.

Support the arts and know that intellect without creative thought is like a pie without a filling. Or a car without comfy seats. Or...oh shit.

Realize that we have a limited amount of time on the planet, that there are lessons to be gleaned from the folks who preceded us and there are lessons to teach those who will take our place.

What else... oh yes: hug the next actor you see. I mean, only if you want to.

Wow! That was easy!

I think you may be right, Anna. If not the same person, Definitely chiseled from the same thick brick.

Oh, and your "hair and tears" reply, as well as all the others? Priceless!!! :-)

There is definitely a "kams vibe" from that commenter. The same kind of "junk yard dog" determination to "hold on to the argument" in spite of it having been thoroughly rebutted, while simultaneously "snapping" at any new point that might have been made by subsequent posts.

There also seems to be that "I'm the last comment on the thread, therefore my argument WINS" mentality, which we are all too familiar with.

If it's not "kams" then the individual seems to have gone to the same "school".

He/ she is not me. But I have to mention this.. SirReal1... you do have Scottish heritage it appears. And the reason I bring that up? Because I distinctly remember directly asking you awhile back if you did, basing that question on the fact that you relentlessly argue (even when you have no valid points). My assumption was correct and you just couldn't give me the satisfaction of letting me know that. And if anyone reads our last "debate" they will see who "holds onto the argument" in spite of the fact that you have no argument. My brother was good (or bad really) at doing that. Ha! you got pegged SirReal! Now I fully expect you to proceed to tell me you were adopted. And I don't base that on your Scottish heritage.. I base that on my experience "debating" with you.

If those responsible for our collective safety were as diligent in protecting the rights of individuals as they are in finding loopholes for giant corporations, perhaps Mr. Weber wouldn't have needed to point out the obvious...because, frankly, those on the Hill don't seem to get it.

Spot on!

The sad reality is, under our current system (with the most recent changes e.g. Citizens United) "those on the Hill" have a vested interest in "not getting it".

As Steven noted, "Education Investment" is likely the only way to "cure" the "infection" that has resulted from this. An educated electorate would see through the deception and vote for those who ARE NOT beholden to "Big Money" backers, and we would end up with representatives who truly understand WHO THEY SERVE!

Welcome aboard Weber's crazy train.

Another home run, Steven. All of these issues you mention, truly are easy to solve. Well, relatively easy when compared to the complicated convoluted "solutions" our elected officials usually come up with, in order to protect the obscene schemes of the wealthiest 1%.

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." I believe, if memory serves, that's a quote from one of our Tea Party Founding Fathers icons, Benny, "the lightening rod," Franklin. Some folks called him "Benny the brewmeister," but that's another story.

And isn't that what were talking about?

Isn't it (if we have to put everything into fiscal terms) more fiscally responsible to provide affordable health care? To educate our citizens? To make sure unemployment is low? Isn't it double the ounce of prevention, to upgrade our vitally needed infrastructure by engaging the unemployed in fixing it?

Regulations? Ask BP if they wished they'd spent a few million up front, to prevent the multi-billion dollar horror that still negatively affects the Gulf waters and surrounding communities? On second thought, forget asking BP. Ask those Gulf communities.

Supporting the arts? Well, I hear ol' Benny liked to have a good time, and the arts and entertainment part of living is something that he fully supported. "Good for the soul," I believe he'd say.

So let's all put on our tri-cornered hats, and celebrate the Founding Father who made our choices in life EASY to understand. Anyone who disagrees, can go fly a kite.

Take care of old people.

Take care of sick people

Fix roads

Regulate industries that pollute the environment

I have no probleme with people marrying dog, as long as they don't expect benefits for their spouse.

Encourage thrift

Most everything else you propose is right out of the Third Reich.

Yes, we should study history.

I think you don't know much about history. It is out of the French Revolution, the American Revolution, the Roman Senate, the Greek Athenians, tec, tec.

Third Reich? You are making a stretch with that statement. Is it a preamble to your defense of social darwinism???

Or are you like Herman Cain and don't know much about social darwinisn. neo-cons, etc.??

"It is out of the French Revolution, the American Revolution, the Roman Senate, the Greek Athenians, tec, tec."

If you genuinely believe this, you know nothing about Roman, Greek, French revolutionary, or early American history.

Actually, it's conservatives who have the easy answers. The answers are the following:

- If you get sick or injured, tough.
- if you can't find a job, tough.
- if you get hit by a tornado, hurricane, etc, tough.
- if you're raped and get pregnant, tough.
- if the air around you is polluted or your food is full of poison, tough.
- if you're not white, not Christian, and not straight, tough.

Great post.

I saw another similarpost this week that tied the GOPer strategy to the medievil practice of treating maladys by bleeding. (I'm sorry that I cannot attribut this to the writer of the post. He/She deserves the credit)

Headache? Bleed the patient
Back Pain? Bleed the patient
Arthritis pain? Bleed the patient
Fever? Bleed the patient.
etc

Then they listed the problems we are facing and the answer to each was "Lower taxes"

I am sending a virtual hug to you, Steven! Such a no-brainer list, yet, as you well know, a list that seems to be ignored and even shunned by far too many individuals. Probably because they haven't figured out how to make billions off charity given to the old, poor and sick.
