Ugly and Stupid

It had to come to this. A culture cannot lie down with dogs and not become utterly infested with fleas.

The dogs, in this case, are the mongrel media and the corporate overlords who have grown fat on manufactured controversy and fear mongering. A strategy to acquire profits based on scrupulously avoiding any efforts at elevating discussion and exploiting the basest terrors housed within every human being is what now comprises the formerly respectable fourth estate and its avaricious corporate proprietors. Decades of insidious inculcation have rendered a significant portion of the population inured to reason and accepting of fringe ideology and outlandish assumption as fact.

And all for money.

The actual quality of the lives of the hapless hypnotized is of little consequence. It's the same attitude slavers had towards their living, breathing chattel: three-fourths of a human being is all that's required for their purposes. Fully formed humans are of no use to organizations which embrace inchoate concepts as the quickest means to profit.

So, the spate of crazies defending the use of slaughter-machines, the low-brow misogynists who sit in Congress and pass judgements with as much thought as passing wind, the rampant stream of violent imagery aimed at children and ennobled through our fetish for advertising and technology, the purposeful dismantling of public education and the stoking of apocalyptic terrors all leading to regular massacres of innocent men, women and children should be no surprise.

Lincoln said, "If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher."

Similarly, our salvation must be generated from within and not from the deceptive forces without, those forces which would make The Land of the Free into a pitted landscape populated by The Ugly and the Stupid.
