There is a growing chorus of activists united around solving the plastic pollution problem in our oceans. To date, visual evidence of the problem is scant on the web and statistics and white papers are hard for the general public to embrace. But thanks the work of artists like Chris Jordan and many, many others, images are starting to circulate that are making consumers think twice about their plastic consumption. As an activist and Communications Director for The 5 Gyres Project dedicated to this issue who has been to the gyres and has seen the human stain firsthand, I can still barely handle watching this crucial piece. The video, produced by Stephen Thomson of Plomomedia shows the real extent of the issue on a global stage. Warning, the imagery in this short film is extremely disturbing.
