I was so encouraged to see Diane Propsner shine a spotlight on Women's colleges and their inspiring graduates in her June 12, 2014 entry "Memorable 2014 Graduation Images From Women's Colleges."
However, as President of Russell Sage College for women in Troy, New York, I would like to note that her compilation of beautiful photos omitted several institutions from across the country, including Russell Sage. This year, 200 talented women earned their bachelor's degrees at Russell Sage College, and I am so proud of the tremendous contributions they will make as they continue the next part of their journey.
At Russell Sage we take pride in teaching our students to become women of influence in their careers and their communities. Through our WORLD program -- Women Owning Responsibility for Learning and Doing -- we instill in women leadership qualities so that they will continue succeed, learn, and give back to their communities long after graduation.
Women's colleges have a treasured responsibility to empower and inspire young women to be confident, articulate and success-oriented. Such institutions offer a unique experience where women can learn and grow together. I am privileged to be a part of helping to develop women of influence who have an incredible opportunity to leave their mark on this world and effect positive change.
