Today's Stem Cell Bill: A Politically Expedient Approach

H.R 810 represents a step in the right direction, but it is ultimately a politically expedient approach to tackling this critical issue. It does not address the fact that the federal government should be funding the most important form of embryonic stem cell research, Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT), which many scientists believe holds the greatest promise for unlocking the mysteries to some of the worst diseases of out time. People with diabetes, Parkinson¹s and other diseases continue to suffer as ideology stands in the way of scientific discovery. The fact of the matter
is that the vast majority of Americans, regardless of their political or religious affiliation, support expansive stem cell research to find better treatments and ultimately cures for diseases that impact their families.
