Susan Tenby is Online Community Director at San Francisco-based nonprofit TechSoup Global and leads an active community of nonprofit staff and volunteers in Second Life. She founded and manages the Nonprofit Commons in Second Life program, four nonprofits-only islands in Second Life that house 75 organizations, and hundreds of volunteers, free of charge, to lower the barrier of access to the virtual world. She organizes nonprofits in the virtual world and in other online social networks, across the globe. She speaks regularly at conferences about online communities, online social networks and virtual worlds. She was honored to be invited to testify before the US Congress on Nonprofits and Second Life, by Congressman Markey and was called out by Jon Stewart, on the Daily Show, for her congressional testimony and her cheeky avatar name.
