Hillary Clinton and her supporters continue to argue that if she cedes the Democratic primaries to Barack Obama she will be depriving the voters in the remaining primary states of a voice, and is refusing to be "bullied" out of the race.
A little history to put this in to...

What happened to the Democratic Party?
I'm a lifelong Democrat. I've volunteered in countless Democratic campaigns. I've managed campaigns for Democrats. I was a Democratic candidate for statewide office in California. For three years, I was Chair of the California Democratic Party. But I don't recognize the Democratic Party today.

This little missive is directed at Senator Leahy and the other elite Democratic party officials, including Speaker Pelosi, whom I have supported unflinchingly throughout her tenure, as well as the elite progressives, who are suggesting Hillary Clinton...

We haven't done a contest here in a while, so I'm going to open the betting window today on the outcome of the Democratic race. To play, just post a comment with the date and the outcome you predict will happen.
As an example, here is my entry: Hillary Clinton...

The cover story of this coming Sunday's New York Times Magazine asks the provocative question: "The End of Republican America?" The photo below it shows a red, inflatable elephant -- collapsed and leaking air.
"Karl Rove had a plan to realign American politics for generations. Now GOP leaders are struggling...

Clinton and Obama supporters have been slugging it out for months, and the hounds are now snapping at Hillary's heels. Chris Dodd has publicly declared that this race must end.
Indeed, it must end if the Democratic nominee is to stand a chance against a thoroughly refreshed (and...

While most Democrats have very little interest in the actual policy positions of the two remaining candidates (Hillary and Obama), many are fascinated by trivia, arguments about character and honesty, and really excited by endless and self-generating allegations of unfair treatment by the rival candidate. The cumulative impact has been...

The Democratic party has two strong contenders for the nomination, and big primaries remain, with millions of votes yet to be cast. It is nearly unprecedented for a major candidate to be asked to pull out in such a situation, but there's a media clamor for Hillary Clinton to do...

Yesterday John McCain did his best to redecorate his unvarnished neo-con foreign policy positions, vowing to be more "collaborative" with American allies. However he dresses up his positions with phrases like "realistic idealist" he is as firmly committed as ever to continuing the fundamental policies of the Bush administration that...

First came John McCain's strange assertion that Al Qaeda in Iraq was being trained and supported by the Iranians.
Next he backed off the claim after Joe Lieberman whispered something in his ear. "I'm sorry, the Iranians are training extremists, not Al Qaeda," he said.
Then on Meet...

Everyone knows that Hillary Clinton voted for that Iraq war resolution and (as I revealed last week) remained virtually silent in the days leading up to the invasion. But what did she say as hopes for a quick exit fell apart in late-2003? She backed John McCain's call for an...

The more I read about the rich donors who told Nancy Pelosi to shut up, the more angry I get. I may not agree with her on quite a few issues, but Speaker Pelosi is second in line to the presidency, the first woman to hold her position and...

Well, looking at the numbers, people are turning to substantive speech in long-form online.
Jon Stewart captured the gist: people are shocked that Obama's treating us like adults.
Micah Sifry and Andrew Rasiej capture the issues in an article in Politico:
So far, Obama's videos have been viewed more...

Has anybody actually taken the time to watch Rev. Wright's much maligned sermon in its entirety? The one that the MSM's diced and sliced and handed out like amphetamine-laced communion to its maddeningly impressionable flock? It's there, right on that cyber-commons otherwise known as YouTube.
Yeah, there's all manner...

There is no story in recent memory that better illustrates the tattered social contract between workers and corporations in this country than the story of Debbie Shank and Wal-Mart. Ms. Shank recently became a "Gold Star" mother when her 18-year-old son, Jeremy, was killed in Iraq.
Years ago while...

Having empowered the failed and deadly presidency of George W. Bush evangelicals should be in the market for redemption. So I'll make a prediction: if Senator Obama is the Democratic Party candidate, the 2008 election will provide a watershed moment for the evangelical community, perhaps even a second chance.
