LONG BEACH, Calif. — Move over, it's Saturday night at Club Bounce and people are bouncing onto the dance floor in a big, big way.
These are big, big people, all dressed to the nines and many tipping the scales at 250, maybe 300 pounds.
That's because this expansive nightclub a couple blocks from the Pacific Ocean, with its flashing lights, friendly atmosphere and wall-rattling hip-hop sounds, caters specifically to fat people.
That's right, fat people. Not just any fat people, either, but fat people who are proud to call themselves fat people. People who joke that they are part of the new Fat is Phat movement.
"Self-conscious? No! Not at all," laughs Monique Lopez, a curvaceous woman of 23 as she arrives in a tight, black dress and heels. "I was like, 'I'm going to Club Bounce tonight. I'm going to wear my shortest skirt.'" (Which she did.)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — An arrest report says a Georgia man caused a flight to make an unscheduled stop in Tennessee after he chanted Bible verses and kicked and flailed.
Authorities said Paul Marchuk III was under evaluation Wednesday in Tennessee a day after a Delta airliner headed to Atlanta from Seattle had to stop in Nashville. An arrest report says the 22-year-old began talking loudly and touching other passengers.
The report says the man from Canton, Ga., also wouldn't let a fellow passenger use the bathroom and told her that "his blood would be on her."
Six of the 178 passengers then helped a flight attendant subdue Marchuk about 15 minutes before the plane landed.
He has been charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Officials say he doesn't have an attorney.

SAN FRANCISCO — Clorox Co. gave CEO Don Knauss compensation valued at $7.5 million, a 5 percent raise, as the company's profit rose despite the economic tumult of the past year.
The Oakland, Calif.-based consumer products maker boosted Knauss' salary by 7 percent to $1.1 million for fiscal 2009, which ended in June. He was also awarded stock and options worth nearly $5 million at the time they were granted on Sept. 16, 2008, up 9.5 percent from the prior year, according to an Oct. 2 regulatory filing.
Half the value of those grants was given as stock options with a strike price of $63.95, which has left the options underwater since the stock has stayed below that level since then. It now trades at $58.15, as of Wednesday afternoon.
Knauss also received $217,256 in perks and other compensation, a 15 percent drop from the prior year.
The pay raise came as Clorox's annual profit rose 16 percent and its adjusted profit handily beat analyst expectations. Yearly revenue rose 3 percent.

LOS ANGELES — Joe Torre says he doesn't plan to manage the Los Angeles Dodgers after his contract expires.
"I have one year on my contract and I don't anticipate it being more than that," he said Tuesday, two days before the Dodgers open the NLCS against Philadelphia.
However, he noted, "I've said that before and my wife doesn't believe me at all."
The 69-year-old manager is in the middle of a three-year deal he signed nearly two years ago after 12 seasons guiding the New York Yankees. The Dodgers are 179-145 with two consecutive NL West titles under Torre.
His 83 postseason victories are more than any other manager in major league history, and his 14 consecutive playoff appearances as a manager are tied with Atlanta's Bobby Cox (1991-2005).
