Robert Redford's new film is the decent kind of drama we've come to expect around April. What's actually interesting about The Company You Keep, for independent filmmakers, is the concept of what I like to call the "old-people ensemble."
Channing was 34 when she was cast as Rizzo, the eader of the Pink Ladies. Her performance practically steals the movie. Yet she was old enough to play Rizzo's mother. One thing's for sure: we'll never again see a bunch of 30-year-old's cast as high school students.
Public and private sector policies need to enable older workers to stay productive as we age. To
achieve this, we need a healthy and active aging model, led in part by technology-fueled solutions to what now seem like insurmountable challenges.
What does it take to be fab nowadays? A feathered mane, lux threads, a memorable look, and a banging resume. The ladies of today may know how to up the ante but being a glamorous woman of color is nothing new.
