Girls expresses something essential about growing up/ growing older: No matter how much experience you gain, being an adult never quite feels the way it looked from far away.
Despite the dramatic denouement, to me this episode felt strangely tepid. The action revisited themes we've seen explored more deeply in other episodes, without adding much insight.
At the benefit they enjoy a performance from Michigan's answer to the Solid Gold Dancers, which in New York could be an ironic burlesque act. Unfortunately Hannah is the only one who thinks so.
