In yesterday's elections, Americans took the measure of some in elected office and said they wanted change. As progressives, we should recognize that the change called for is still one that we are equipped to provide.
We are right to rally our compassion for the victims, but the inconvenient truth is that the solution to this problem is rooted in recognizing and listening to the bullies, most of whom are and/or were victims.
We Americans are less wealthy. But for the foreseeable future we are going to spend more in the reasonable hope that in the more distant future we will be spending less while having more. This is the new American Dream.
