Il laboratorio LABEC di Firenze fiore all'occhiello nel campo delle tecnologie per i beni culturali, ha risolto un mistero di autenticità sul quadro di Leger della collezione Peggy Guggenheim. Il falso è stato smascherato perché nel cotone della tela sono stati rinvenuti atomi di radiocarbonio in quantità tale da essere compatibile solo con gli anni centrali della guerra fredda, quando russi e americani giocavano a fare test nucleari sprigionando in atmosfera grandi quantità di radiocarbonio.
