When I asked Tricia Baker how her son committed suicide she kindly said, "We do not say 'committed suicide.' This stems from the old belief that suicide is a crime."
Every time I hear reporters ask "Why" I want to jump through the TV screen and shake them. It is frustrating to me that the media is still so woefully uninformed about mental health.
The happiest, sprightliest person you know may be the one with the hidden mental illness. She may be the one who's too afraid of how people will react to tell the truth and seek help.
