I've been both of these women now, and while I know there are still many, many parenting milestones ahead, it feels strange to have already closed the lid on these boxes.

These kids of mine, of ours, they are our life's work and in a lot of ways they are traveling due East or due West from us even as we stand there, running our fingers through their freshly shampooed hair.

To get them to stay asleep I have to keep driving around. And this is why I want an autopilot mode in my car. Just a button on the dashboard. That way, once they fall asleep, I can sleep, too!
