The sale of cable news network Current TV to Al Jazeera has raised more than a few eyebrows. But whatever comes of it all, the creation of this alternative to CNN and Fox News and MSNBC shows just how much has changed in the news media since Peter Jennings left us just seven years ago.
Do traditional news outlets falter? Of course they do, all the time. And opinion does color the facts. But that is certainly no excuse to choose to expose yourself only to the work of journalists who you know share your political inclinations.
Why do some people embark on a news hunt the moment they open their eyelids in the morning, while others get the news only if it eventually gets them, when it dons the front page of virtually every media outlet available?
