I share the eulogy I gave for my brother, Kevin, annually on this day to remind my son -- and all my children -- of a man who loved them dearly.
I think kids should work hard, use their talents and take school seriously. But more than anything, I want my kids to learn how to learn.
Having Chris Lilly on your grilling team is the same thing as having Texas Rangers Josh Hamilton teach your kids a thing or two about baseball. Or having Beyonce and Jay Z swing by for your weekly singing lesson.
With all the recent controversy about "Mom Wars" and "Dad Wars," I wanted to share a piece that simply is about what it means to me to be a parent. At the end (and beginning) of every day, that's really what this is all about for me.
My most recent father-son bonding memory happened quite by surprise. In fact, when I went to bed last night, I never dreamed of the special experience waiting before I even hit my REM sleep.
