The only polarization I see is a sad one. There is a small, but indeed passionate, minority whose only values are expressed negatively--Against! Against! Against! is their cry. On the other side? Indifference.
There would be many chances for unique moments in the White House if Sarah Palin were president. How about Sarah on horseback, ringing bells like Paul Revere did, shouting, "The Democrats are coming!"
This is the year that brought us the nightmarish stultification of the conservative movement and the nearly parodic collapse of the exhausted liberal will.
