Did this new adventure -- in which the young, Viking dragon-rider Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) faces down a powerful warlord (Djimon Hounsou) and has a family reunion with his long-lost mother (Cate Blanchett) -- pay back my investment?
As the dragon racers fly by, the audience is introduced to additions like an all-you-can eat feeding station, an aqueduct for putting out fires quickly, and a dragon armory perfect for tooth replacement or making dragon helmets.
The voice talent is also to be commended as the voices perfectly match the characters with Baruchel and Blanchett leading the way. Animated films are always more enjoyable when the voice talent has been carefully cast
In all, the show was no enormous shame, a few good jokes, no great shocks. But the program did its job. It honored those who labored long and hard in the film industry this past year. And maybe that's all we should expect.
The nominated actresses did not receive Oscar nods or the movie role for which they are nominated by wearing designer dresses. They received their accolades because of their talent, their hard work and their tenacity to keep fighting for their space.
