I don't think there's anyone who can raise my stress level the way my children can. Our children don't realize that we not only have our own anxiety, but we take on theirs as well. It's not the healthiest thing to do, but it comes with the territory of being a parent.
We often press our children to perform because we feel that their success reflects on our parenting skills. This is a terrible burden to place on your children, which can cause performance anxiety and impact personal relationships.
In treating stress-related conditions in children, there are so many terrific mind-body approaches to consider, including yoga and meditation. But one of my all-time favorites, useful even in very young children, is storytelling.
