I grew up a straight girl in a gay world, the opposite of what most gay people experience, but with the same problems of lack of place. I didn't feel that I made sense in the heterosexual world either.
Opponents of same-sex marriage in Utah and Michigan maintain that children of same-sex couples do not fare as well as those raised by married heterosexuals. This would be laughable if it did not have the potential to cause even further damage to children like me.
As discrimination falls state by state across our great nation, we don't hear enough about children and the impacts of the fight on the most precious among us. It's important that we keep them steadfastly in our minds.
