It's that time of the year when many Americans finally give themselves permission to do something that they deny themselves of the rest of the year: sing. And not just singing, but singing with others in choral groups, choirs and caroling.
I sure do miss that great tradition of gathering together with a bunch of people you don't really know all that well, and then going outside with them into the freezing dark to wander around the streets singing songs in the hopes that eventually someone will feed you.
There is something beautiful about giving, generosity and the contagious cheer that fills the world (not just the malls) during Christmas. We just need fresh imagination with how we celebrate amid the frenzy and clutter.
