That's a tragic story, not to be miminized in any way. But one of the main reasons it shocks us is that fruit is not supposed to hurt.

Last year was a great one for hotel and restaurant openings, particularly for the intimate and one of a kind places I love. Here were the best of the spots that I was lucky enough to check out in 2010.

While Corsica doesn't have five star hotel accommodations on par with Sardinia, it more than makes up for it in breathtaking landscapes, beaches, a sense of history.
